I wanted to have a nice meal with my family for the holidays and go to a NICE restaurant. We are used to getting a little dressed up for this affair. I thought Kelsey's was a NICE place. How disappointing to find that it was a blue jean and flannel shirt restaurant. The servers were very nice but looked like they were all under the age of 18. No personal touch here. This apears to be a typical ""hick"" restaurant in Schererville. The food was somewhat ok. I have had better. I ordered the 10 oz.prime rib dipped in garlic butter. There was so much blood/juice on my plate I couldn't help but not eat it. It was fair at least. I also ordered the Kelsey Potatoes. Baby reds with green pepper and onion. It appeared to be one small red. There were only 3 pieces of potato and one piece of green pepper added to this dish. I also ordered the French Onion soup, which was a watery beef broth with some onions and cheese on it. Very Poor quality.\r
I am used to getting a nice cloth napkin in a restaurant, not paper napkins. Cheap cheap cheap. They serve the drinks in a glass jar not a nice glass. I felt like I was in a neighborhood bar rather than a nice restaurant. \r
If this is one of the best restaurants Nortwest indiana has to offer, I'm going back to locations like in Oakbrook, Naperville or even Downtown Chicago. It would well worth the trip. \r
P. S. Don't get dressed up for this place. Jeans and a flannel shirt and boots will get you in the door anytime. If this is our idea of a nice restaurant, get a life. \r
The food at Kilroys Bar in downtown Lansing Illinois is better than this place and a lot cheaper.
