Yes its true kind people. But they lack horsemanship. Horseback riding is more then just hopping on a horse. Main reason why i left.and I have Like two other reasons but I don't want to be rude. more

Keep your heels down, thumbs up...good job. If that's what you want to hear, this place is for you. They won't give you the time of day unless you board here. Not good at matching horse with rider...just wantto make the sale. Make sure your wallet is fat or move on down the road! more

When a person pays 45$ an hour there is an expected level of quality anticipated during a lesson at a show barn. Granted I was just a "lesson taker" and not a leaser or boarder, I still expect to get reasonable attention that does not include conversing with parents from other lessons or texting on a cell phone the majority of the lesson. I found it disapointing when a boarder participated in a group lesson and was dedicated time and detailed instruction that regular lesson riders are not privy to. In the end I work hard for my money, and there are enough barns in area that I can take my buisness to. It is also disapointing to me that the owners do not take time to introduce themselves to new and expierence non-boarders. I rode there for a few months and was never approached by the owners or even told hello. I still have no idea who they are to this date. There is no way I board there or continue doing buisness if I am not worth anyones time, then I guess they are not worth my money. I would take my money somewhere else where people have a vested interest in people other then those already involved. If you interested in lessons only, this is not the place if you want to learn advanced tecniques. more

This barn is not for weekend warriors or penny pinchers. To be frank about it, they're a show barn.. not just a lesson mill. They make money off clients, and typically only push clients to spend if they show an interest. I spent almost my entire childhood riding with Keith and Lynda, I felt as though I was part of the family there. As for other barns in the area, they're a laughing stock for the most part. The local barns in tampa are pathetic.. trust me.. I looked after I moved away from my parent's home and was never able to find someone I could get along with ethically. In short, Keilyn is a great barn for people who really want to invest in the sport. The costs are pretty comparable to the ones in the area. I hate to say it, but their price sheet is pretty on par with any other show barn I've ever been to or worked at. If it wasn't for the states separating myself from riding there now.. I'd still have horses at Keilyn. They made me the rider I am today. I am confident and strong in my abilities. more

They are good people.. NOT good trainers! I know of a few families whom have went there and my family as well was there. I have 2 daughters that rode there. They pushed us to buy a horse when we couldnt afford it and then pushed us to do so many shows a month! Board is ridiculously exspencive as well as the "extras" they leave out such as 150 to clip your horse, 5 dollars to wash your saddle pads when they arent dirty, anything you can name, you were charged for it! Every time we went to a tack shop and it was known my girls rode at Keilyn there were no positive comments. If they are such good trainers then why are the smaller barns and the ones that cost less taking everything at horse shows? Follow some of their riders on the CFHJA results and at shows. My daughters really liked the people there but they say the same thing. We now have 3 horses at a show barn and including feed, farrier, supplements, etc we pay less then what we paid for 1 horse at Keilyn. Like I said great people just not good trainers nor do they know how to run a barn. very snobbish and too much drama! more

Stay away from this barn. The quality of training is average at best and then only with the owners. The hired "trainers" are nice enough but not really there to train or teach. I was told, by the trainer herself, that their primary goal is to make as much money as possible for the barn. They try to convince you to buy and board a horse there or lease a horse of theirs which is most likely not of high quality. And if you don't then they literally stop teaching you anything new. So, by their own admission, training you or your child is not their highest priority. A business that turns a profit is one thing. Taking advantage of parents who want the best for their child is another. You do not get what you pay for and any consumer will tell you that's a RIP OFF. Lets get specific. For a private lesson at Keilyn, $60 for 1/2 hr. of which the first 10 mins. is warmup. My current trainer, $30 for a FULL hr. of intense, very knowledgable training. I learned more there in the first few months than in several years at Keilyn. Boarding at Keilyn is $775 vs $380 where I'm at now. Local hauling to shows is $200 as charged by Keilyn and $75 rt for me. My trainer charges only $50 per day at shows. That's it. Nothing extra. Away shows would also be hotel fee split by all attendees. WOW. Just a few examples. As you can see Keilyn's prices are more than DOUBLE, which wouldn't be a problem for me at all IF it were worth it. It's not! Also, for me, a real trainer knows how to train horses as well. Keilyn ships their horses "to a cowboy" as told to me, for training. They are capable of maintainence and that's about it. My trainer has taken green horses and turned them into Grand Prix jumpers. In my opinion he's worth MORE than what he's charging. But then he's an honest man who just loves what he does for a living. I feel sorry for the girls and their parents who are stuck at Keilyn because they don't know any better. They could become so much more skilled as riders and pay a lot less. Do as the other comments said and ask at shows. more

I have ridden in Keilyn for over 3 years and did not realize until recently how mismanaged this place it. Unless you are willing to spend tons of money to buy your own horse, you will never learn more than jump a 18" crossrail on an overworked, old horse or pony (however advanced rider you might be). Their lesson horses are not in the best shape and their local shows are way overpriced. Do not waste your time and money. I found a boarding place for half of the money that Keilyn's lease is! This is only a good place to LEARN to ride if you a little kid or first time rider. If you are an average rider or better this is not the place for you as they will string you along and keep you an average rider unless you can afford an overpriced horse and an overpriced boarding fee. The lessons are the same every week. You never really learn anything new. Don't waste your money or time if you are a serious rider or want to compete in more than non rated shows. The only time they will teach you is if you own and board your horse there. That's how they make the most money from you. If you don't have a horse there, then they will switch horses on you at every lesson for no reason other than to try to convince you to lease or buy a horse from them. They are not really interested in advancing or teaching your child. They are only interested in how much money you are willing to spend there. If you're not interested in spending what amounts to a mortgage payment or better, then this is not the place for you. Some of the horses are not very good quality here either. They consist of very stubborn ponies and some lesson horses that verged on being unsafe for some of the smaller children. They put riders on horses that did not match the experience due to lack of good horses to choose from. There are much better trainers in Tampa for a lot less money. Shop around. It will be worth it. Some of the best ones are not advertised so much and may be hard to find, but worth the effort. Go to horse shows and walk around and ask. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to own a horse or go to shows. I found a barn that's less than half the cost of this one. I was lucky. An unfortunate incident (at least I thought so at the time)forced me to look elsewhere, and I've never been happier! Hope this helps. Good luck. more

What a great time we had at this barn and how I miss the excitement of the shows! Keith Powell is a phenomenal trainer and truly a talented horseman. His ability to get the best out of each and every horse is a pleasure to watch. His connection to these animals is a great asset to each and every rider. There have been some rough edges at this barn but when they are in sync there is no better place to be, no better trainers to train your horse, your child, or you! Peggy H more

I rode at this farm my entire junior career. I was there from about age 5 until just before my 18th birthday. Absolutely the best barn in the tampa bay area. They will provide you with the best show experience possible, and provide great service. They ARE a show barn, so if you ride just for fun it's probably not the place to be. They're great show trainers and honestly I credit all of my success to their hard work and dedication. If you take riding as seriously as I do, this barn will not disappoint you. If I hadn't enlisted in the military I'd likely still ride with them. more

I rode at Keilyn for over five years, until I moved away for college in 2006. Every moment at that barn was nothing but wonderful memories. They are two of the BEST trainers in the Hillsborough area, and even in the country. I myself finished off my junior year as a rider having won a national final (HBO Junior Medal), being state champion in two divisions, awarded Best Child Rider at HITS (“horses in the sun” – a five week long horse show in Ocala, FL), circuit champion in two divisions at HITS, and countless other accomplishments. I credit all accomplishments to their help and guidance, and there is no one to whom I would trust the care of my horse more than these two trainers. They are true horse people and will take care of your horse like it was their own. It is true they are mainly a show barn, so yes, they do encourage riders to try showing. And if you have a dangerous horse, that is not a good match for you, then they will tell you exactly what they think you should do. But I have never known them to shove anything down anyone’s throat. If you go there with a good attitude and a willingness to learn, than you will love this barn and they will take you farther than you could have ever imagined. I encourage anyone looking for a barn in the area to try them out; they are truly wonderful trainers. more

This barn will take your money and run. They don't let you progress unless you're willing to spend at least 20,000 on a horse, even if you are just riding for pleasure. The trainers can't ride and there are a bunch of snot nosed bratty teenagers. They are dishonest and I am disgusted that they would treat their paying customers the way they do. more
