Kaufmann's Tavern

Back in the day ,about 20 years ago, Kauffman's was a little ol restaurant/tavern that served the best seafood and had a nice friendly atmosphere. Today, the restaurant is okay. The building is definitely bigger and prettier. THe service is adequate nothing to write home about. Often, I had to wait for drink refills - not good for a waitress trying to up her bill total with a bar tab. I recently went for the crab feast. There was no corn, the soup was delicious but delivered in tiny styrofoam bowls - and only 1 serving. When asked for more soup - there was none. The crabs were hot and spicy. On the smaller side, but what do you expect for an all you can eat. Lunch is done a little better, with the service more attentive and the food a little more forth coming. If I had a choice, i would go in the afternoon and leave the dinner to someone else. more

Kaufmann's Tavern is the sort of out of the way place that all the locals know about. It's always packed on summer evenings. They have a large outdoor patio area with bar and it's easy to spend hours sitting outside picking crabs and enjoying the weather. I recommend the all you can eat crab feast, which also includes crab soup and corn on the cob. more
