Kaplan, Michael S, Md - Rehab Team West

I was a patient of Dr. Kaplan for 16 years. We butted heads a few times, but he was a fabulous Dr.! I was a survivor from an airplane crash, a jumbo jet. Many other doctors gave up on me. Dr. Kaplan knew which tests to run and saved my life! my pain was so severe, that suicide seemed a better option! than life. He had compassion that many other doctors should have, but didn't. He reduced my pain to a level where it was tolerable, allowing me to fight through the pain. He gave me my life back! He supported me! They don't come any better than him! To this day, I cannot find another doctor with his compassion, knowledge, nor will any other doctor give me the time that he did. I really believe that the medical board was way too harsh oh him, and tried to make an example out of him! Not only did a great doctor stop practicing, but a lot of patients lost their only support system! Shame on you! Now, I am back to intense pain, and an indifference for life! Are you happy? more

This doctor has a genius for diagnosis. He diagnosed and treated me correctly after many other physicians who are still allowed to practice pain management did not. He was the most responsible pain doctor I've seen regarding prescribing controlled substances. He truly takes the patient's side, and he wants his patients to have the healthiest lives possible. He just sees farther than other doctors, and listens better. He's extremely intelligent and warm but professional. He changes people's lives for the better. Whatever happened probably resulted from disorganization in the office staff. I am not saying Kaplan isn't responsible, but it seems an extreme result. I read the reprimand, which did not specify much. He can still practice, just not pain management. That is a loss. It is wrong. I hope the medical board and Dr. Kaplan can some day reach an understanding about a process to restore Dr. Kaplan's status as a pain management specialist. It is ironic that I and so many people value him way more than a lot of other doctors we've seen who are practicing pain management, but lack the genius, professionality and sincere warmth of Dr. Kaplan. more

Dr Kaplan gave my husband back his LIFE....his back is pretty much broken in 8 places, neck injuries, hand injuries all at 36 years old. Dr Kaplan was extremely thorough in ALL his records and very conservative and helpful with any and all medications. He also talked to my husband like he was a man so that when he could no longer work, my husband felt better. Kia is simply a wonderful person as is Alexis. Miss Trish though. It is a shame that so many have been so hurt, some permanently. Look at the MD Board of Physicians site, download and read the whole reprimand and then decide what a great ""doctor"" and staff you see. There are too many GOOD Doctors out there who can help, and really want to help, people with chronic pain. The group of patients and families I am working with have a hard time even getting their records--Apparently some burned in a fire in another office (hmmm-so convenient). I have been seen by at least 15 different Dr's and stayed in Union Memorial Hospital for close to 7 months, I have multiple problems . By my 2nd appointment Dr Kaplin found other problems that not even my hemotoligist specialist new that i see weekly. He has helped me wonderfully. I highly recommended Dr Kaplin he also treats you like a Friend. Pros: He really helps and understands your problems Cons: I haven't had any problems with the staff more
