Sushi Chef ? You must be joking! 5/12/2010

On my vist today, Chirashi was ordered. I have never seen more hacked up fish as I did today. The norm shoud be that all peices should be the same thickness and size. It was not. Also the texture of the fish seemed a to be a liitle weird , not tender. The house dressing lacked zing and could have been slightly thicker. Miso soup was tasteless. Another person in our party got up to use the restroom and went down the wrong hallway. One of the wait staff hollered and in a voice loud enough for the whole place to hear that the restrooms were the other way. Kanpai gets no cheers from me. Pros: Tempura was okay Cons: The staff needs training.Includes cooks and wait staff more

Very good sushi - I would recommend to a friend 7/17/2008

I must disagree with negative reviews. I enjoyed very good fish, prepared nicely, and served by cordial staff. The atmosphere is so-so, but the decor is decent and the pond is a nice touch. Staff and other patrons seemed like they were all having a good time. Now I wouldn't call the people the most overly engaging, but then again, most sushi restaurant employees including the chef do not start conversation, perhaps as a courtesy. This restaurant is a little more modern, with a big TV, and conventional American-style bar, but they seem proud of their business and their service. My escolar (white tuna) and even red snapper seemed very fresh, and the spicy crawfish was very tasty, if a bit heavy. Pros: Good location, pleasant people Cons: 'just a place' ambiance and decor, warnings about potential vandalism to cars... more

Bad customer service, previously frozen sushi 10/10/2007

I went on a Wed. night also and stood at the door waiting to be seating by a hostess that was not to be seen. I grew tired and my friend and I sat ourselves at the sushi bar. The chef was not friendly or engage us in conversation. The sake tasted watered down. The sushi and sashimi meat tasted as it had been previously frozen, not firm. Large pieces of meat was served, but not overly tasty. Service was poor, my firend had to almost tackle a waiter to get a glass of water, which should have been served when we were seated (I was served a glass of water he wasn't, go figure?). I don't think I will return, at least not for the sushi and sashimi. Food at the grills smelled good and the people at them seem to have been having fun. Perhaps I'll try that instead. Pros: Nice interior, next door to a resturant with girls in orange tight shorts (I can't type the H word). Hard to think of any pros. Mizu soup was good. Cons: Bad service, previously frozen sushi/sashimi meat. more

Horrible Customer Service! 1/14/2007

I will never eat at this restaurant again! The customer service was absolutly horrible! I went to this restaurant on a Wed night, with some friends. The place was not busy at all. The waiter forgot about my order. After my party was half way through their meals I asked the waiter about my meal and he blew me off. He mumbled something and walked away, not even bothering to check on my order with the kitchen. After my party finished eating, a different waiter came up to me and said they forgot to put my food order in. I was upset and told them that I should get my dates meal for free since they forgot about my dinner. They got the manager and he refused. He didn't even give me a voucher to come back at a later time to claim my meal that they forgot to make me. From the watiers to the manager, customer service is awfu!!! They don't care about the customer all they care about is their money! They lost my service for life! If you are in the McCain area I recommend either Crazy Hibachi (just a little further up the road) or Sakura off of Kiehl Ave. Both of these Japanese restaurants have great food and good customer service. (Sakura has the best priced Sushi around) more
