Best

I've been to every independent coffee shop in the St. Louis area, and hands down Kaldi's is still the best. After more than 10 years of going to the DeMun store it is still the be...

Worst

It is a nice quiet coffee shop, but far too overrated. It is expensive and the coffee does not taste that great either.

REALLY NOT WORTH IT 3/1/2010

Went to get some Hummus with pita bread. How hard is it to make it? Get a couple of scoops of hummus, put some pita bread in the oven and heat it up. ..\r The guy asked me ""in here or carry out"". I told him carry out. And yes, I left thinking of getting to my place and enjoying..WRONG!!!\r When I get home I see that the food is really not food, it is leftovers!! Pita bread was concrete sheet hard and the humus/cucumber combo gave a stink telling me this food had been laying around for days.. \r Needless to say I wont be going there anymore. Beware, do not take out from this place. \r They may as well have given me dog shit to go, it would have been the same thing... trash on the trashcan.. Pros: ""Cool, trendy"" Cons: BAD SERVICE/FOOD more

Nice place, lousy coffee 12/29/2008

I have tried 4 of their coffees and all 4 were lousy. Its a nice place with nice seating but I could not get past the lousy coffee. I would say if the coffee that you drink has more cream and sugar in it than coffee then you could tolerate it. But if you like good coffee then this is not the place for you. Cons: lousy coffee more

I won't go back 3/28/2008

I tried Kaldi's at the suggestion of a friend. I realize that tastes vary, but I couldn't believe that anyone was calling this great coffee. Atmosphere was quite nice.......just couldn't get past the bad coffee! Pros: Cool atmosphere Cons: Bad coffee more

Incredible Coffee Shop 1/15/2007

I've been to every independent coffee shop in the St. Louis area, and hands down Kaldi's is still the best. After more than 10 years of going to the DeMun store it is still the best with the best decoration, best coffee, and hands down the best staff and service. Far worth making the trip in to Clayton if you live in Chesterfield or beyond. Pros: Awesome service, ample parking, incredible atmosphere Cons: Can be extremely busy on weekends, food can be pricey more

Awesome Vegetarian Eats! 9/25/2006

Ever since I discovered this place, I have been a consistent fixture there! For vegetarians, this place is amazing. (There is not a slab of meat in the place.) I've had the Greek Pita (hummus, falafel and rice), Artichoke Panini, and Eggplant Panini for main dishes. All are fantastic, with my favorite being the Artichoke Panini (the spices are JUST right!). I've also sampled several different types of coffee - all being delicious. For desserts or bakery-items, I highly recommend the Trail bar (oatmeal topped with nuts) or lemon bar (the best I've ever had). I've heard a lot about the Gooey Butter cake, but I'm not a personal fan, so I haven't tried it. The only downside is the seating. It's hard to secure a spot in this place, because it's apparently well-loved by the community. This is one of my favorite places in St. Louis! Pros: The food is incredible! Cons: Seating more

The BEST coffee in America! 9/15/2005

Kaldi's is great! Coffee, food, ambiance, freshly roasted beans, whatever! Any of the locations will serve the best quality coffee you have tasted, but the original at DeMun is my personal favorite. Take home some of the whole bean cinnamon hazelnut - I promise you won't be sorry! White Mocha, Granita, Lemon Bars...all great! I have traveled far and wide, across the U.S.A. and haven't found anyone to beat Kaldi's. Pros: Best Coffee, Atmosphere, Did I say best cofee? Cons: Nothing, Nothing, Nothing more

Not so great coffee 9/12/2005

The coffeehouse itself may be nice, but I'm not a big fan of Kaldi espresso drinks. I've tried it at several locations and although the actual Kaldi location does make it the best, it is still not a good espresso. more

Try the Kaldi's in Kirkwood 7/9/2005

Kaldi's is expanding in St. Louis and possibly beyond! The Kirkwood location is great, better service, clean restaurant, expanded menu. The Demun location is great if you're a hippie or rich WashU student, but the Kirkwood location serves the average person and is big enough for groups. Try it today! Pros: Big seating area, CLEAN, Great service more

Favorite coffee house in St.Louis 6/26/2003

One of the best places to sip coffee and converse with friends, intelligensia, or families with kids. This is truly a ""3rd Place"". Kaldi's roasts their own coffee and it is now served in many of the best restaurants in St. Louis. They are also committed to selling ""Fair trade"" coffee and feature one every Friday. Pastries are some of the best of any coffee shop; some produced in house. Their breads are from a successful local ""Craft"" bakery, Companion Bakery. 12 ounce Coffee is 1$,(That's right one dollar!) .60 for refills, pastries/ generally 1.75, some higher. Great coffee, great prices, friendly service, beautiful location(in front of a private college park)---with shaded morning outdoor seating.........................nice more

overrated? 6/8/2003

The only, the best 11/11/2002

Kaldi's is the only place in St. Louis with worthwhile coffee. These aren't your corporate Starbucks baristas (no 10-second rule on the brewed coffee needed here), and the beans are full. Tried a few other independents, and Kaldi's is worth the drive to DeMun over them. Pros: Excellent quality, good hours, good neighborhood more

Got Kaldi's? 10/14/2002

Great coffee, unique decor, quiet location away from major roads, indoor and outdoor seating, interesting people watching, and good food: what more could you ask? My only complaint is the insistance of loading every desert with nuts (don't they know it is a HUGE allergy problem) and the absence of a basic salad without weed greens. THe service is slow, but why would want to rush out of here anyway? Pros: vegetarian/healthfood, great coffee, late evening hours Cons: nut-loaded sweets, crowded easily, slow service more

The best around town... 8/19/2002

Simply the BEST coffee & the BEST tea in all of St.Louis!! What Anheuser Busch is to St. Louis beer...Kald's is to St. Louis coffee!!! And some of the BEST BURRITOS on the planet!!!! Pros: Great Food, Great Beverage, Great People Cons: Not Enoguh Locations more

good coffee 6/7/2002

i really enjoyed the coffee at kaldi's. it truly is a gem, tucked away in this lovely clayton neighborhood. my only complaint was that the staff and customers seemed snobbish about their restaurant. it was as if, ""oh, you've discovered our fabulous coffee shop. buy your coffee and leave so that the rest of us can revel in our little secret."" other than that, i really liked it. Pros: yummy coffee, great atmosphere Cons: snobbish, crowded more
