Must See 12/21/2005

Everyone needs to go to this museum. Geeral admission is free because it is subsidized by taxpayers. There are a variety of excellent displays for all ages. The majority of the displays are hands on and interactive. A family can easily spend the entire day here. The big display on the tops floor changes evey 6 months. The second floor has had major reovations in the past few years, and it can compete with the best of the science museums. more

With so many entertaining options in the area, a museum would usually end up at the bottom of the list. But not if you are talking about the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. In the summer, there are free programs every Wednesday, from 1-4pm. All on the 1st level, about 8 to 10 projects kids 'make and take'. It's air-conditioned and heavily supervised. When kids get done with that part, the 2nd floor is where they put together cars and preform science experiments. The 3rd level changes about every 6 months to something that will appeal to everyone-quilts, Spanish heritage, safety departments, etc. The 4th level is invitation only-where the storage is (ask about the shrunken heads the have somewhere, lol) If you need to watch your budget, the Kalamazoo Valley Museum can provide ours of entertainment for the whole family at no cost to you. more

The best thing about the Kalamazoo Valley Museum is that it is free. There are many interestesting things to do such as science experiments for kids. Even for adults it's a great place to go if you have some time to spare or would like to bring a child. The museum is huge, especially for it's fee to enter. It will serve as a great memory for children and even teens. I would highly recommend this place. more

A wonderful place to visit on a rainy day! 7/28/2005

We love the Kalamazoo Valley Museum and have spent quite a bit of time there in the winter/bad weather. It has a full playroom for young children with tons of things for them to do-individually and activities. M-F at 10am they typically have some sort of organized free event (storytime, etc.) for preschool age children. Then the museum has so much more to offer for older kids-tons of different science experiments they can try. We've never even gotten to the entire museum in all of our visits! more
