This office is a total rip off. Had my teeth cleaned they told me that I had gum disease and I needed a special procedure done to have it removed. The Dr Kakouras told me that I needed a root canal and crown done on a tooth. It seems like every time you go in that office I had to have something major done. Now I go to another dentist, they told me nothing was wrong with my gums and i had to have the root canal and crown redone, because of the awful job he did. My insurance will not pay for this redo. This has been the worse experience I have ever had. It is a shame that someone like him can still be in business. My root canal was only 2 years old. more

I consistently get in quickly to see the Dr. Helms or Dr. Tommy. I am reminded and informed about how I can brush better or improve my smile which I appreciate. Very professional and thorough dentistry all the way through. more

They have a great team working here which are concerned about your dental problems. Great assistance and knowledgeable staff. this dentist office is concerned when a problem occurs which I like. They really listen to what your concerns are, and try to put your mind at ease. Most of the time there is little wait and it is a quick in and out visit. more

I really like the time and care that Dr. Helms puts into each patient. She really cares about well being of your teeth and she tries to get to know you as a person. I was referred here by my neighbors. I'm very glad they did. I was happy with the treatment I received, and everything couldn't be better. more

Your staff is always on top of everything. When we come in our insurance is already verified. Your staff also makes us feel welcomed and comfortable. Love the openness of the office, but most importantly this office comes with a knowledgeable, caring pair of dentists. Another things is that your office seems to be running on time when it comes to appointment times. more

First of all I like this dentist's hours...very flexible compared to other dentists in the area. This dentistry is honest and friendly. They tell you right up front about the pricing and process. They give a a thorough cleaning of your teeth. What else could you ask for in a dentist. more

Kakouras Family Dentistry has a group of excellent dentists that really care about their patients. i like that I am treated like an individual and not just another patient. That is rare to find when visiting a dentist office. I will be seeing this dentist for a very long time. more

Woke up this morning with a horrble toothache! I called this morning and told the receptionist said they were all booked up I told her it was a emerengcy she said she would check with the dentist and call me back. Fifteen minutes later she called and said I could come in right away. From the time I called to the time I was in the dental chair was less than one hour! I was so releaved. Dr. Helms was so very nice and assured me that I would be out of pain. I was handed a remote control and relaxed and watched TV while she fixed my tooth. Everyone in the office was nice and professional. I will be back, and you should too!! more

I had some friends of mine come to this dentist and they were happy with the care they had received. I tried them out and these dentists (Dr. Helms & Dr. Tommy) really care about their patients. The receptionists are also very friendly and welcome you. more

Just had a cleaning this afternoon and I have no cavities! First time I have ever had a check up and had no cavities. Thanks Kakouras Family Denstry for being such a great practice, and a pleasent office. I have never been able to keep up with my teeth so well until I came here and I don't put it off anymore. more

Do NOT use this dentist!!! I changed dentists due to a new plan provider with my employer and they were in a convenient location. I will say that everyone is very nice and professional and it is located in a new office with lots of amenities. However, in paying for these nice amenties they seem to have a practice of overcharging their patients. I was given a gum exam (which I did not ask for) with my x-rays on my first visit and was told I was in the early stages of gum disease. I will say that I take great care of my teeth and during my regular bi-annual visits with every other dentist I have ever seen I have never once been told that my gums were damaged. A deep cleaning was recommended that require anesthia and the procedure involved two visits that were not fully covered by my insurance carrier. I was more than $500 out of pocket as a result but I figured I would go with their recommendation. Since that time they now say I have to come in every 2-4 months! I told them I will only come twice a year since that is what my carrier will cover. On my last visit nothing special was performed but I was still charged a special periodontal exam which was not fully covered by my carrier. The result was only a $15 charge but the fact remains I did not ask for anything special and it was no different than any other cleaning I've ever had. I think they are just a newer practice that is trying to charge higher rates to cover the costs of setting up a nice office and making up for a limited base of clients. If you really are diagnosed with gum disease, go see a periodontist and don't let your dentist overcharge you and your health plan for a regular cleaning. more

Dr. Tommy is the best dentist ever. I drive 30 minutes out of my way to see him. I know there are several dentist closer but Dr. Tommy has a personal touch. He and the office are very nice and compassionate. I have never been to such an advanced (I brought my own DVD to watch while he worked on me) and CLEAN office. I have tried three other dentist in charlotte, but he is by far the nicest and gentlest dentist I have seen. He was even able to numb on the first try, not to many others have been successful. He is the best. Pros: Great office hours. Gentle. Professional. Compassionate. more

I recently moved to the area after neglecting my mouth for many years. Dr. Tommy did a wonderrful job and was very professional. His hygienist gave me the best cleaning I've ever had. I was so happy with my treatment that my kids are patients at the practice and are being seen by Dr. Helms. It was their first visit and Dr. Helms did great. My kids left with a positive experience. I would recommend this practice to everyone and have sent other family members, neighbors and co-workers. He has a great staff and the most advanced dental office. I felt so comfortable. His chair has a back massage and I got to watch TV. I left with the feeling that I did not get ripped off and they treated me like a person not just a mouth. Pros: Profesional, State-of-the-art.
