Anyone who's West Indian knows this place is the place to go for Guyanese-style Chinese food. Whether it's 2 PM or 1 AM, the food is just as good. Pros: authentic, cheap

Guyanese Food From Guyanese People in a Guyanese Setting 1/30/2009

Located perfectly in the middle of the Guyanese community, Kaieteur Restaurant and Sports Bar serves its? community by bringing food, entertainment, friendship and a place relax. Kaieteur offers a variety of dishes to suit many tastes. You can always go for a basic dish like Chicken Fried Rice which is always good or maybe try something different like the Fried Banga Mary, Fried Shrimp or the Seafood Combination. The drinks are pretty good for the most part but I've also had terrible ones but I'll leave that for the next part of this review. The Eruption is great drink for people who want something different. I would recommend it for outgoing groups of 4 or more. There are a few great staff members who really try there hardest. This leaves a great impression for a long time and as well as the opposite. Kaieteur is a great place for the majority of the time but there are downsides as well. Although the food is great, after a few visits the menus gets kind of boring. A small menu and no specials make the place feel tired fast! The drinks are good but there have been many times when I've gotten really bad drinks. I mean, messing up a Cape Cod? That?s just sad. The servers aren't great and some of them aren't even good. Going to a restaurant and hearing them talk about you or having to call for them while they are just sitting there doing nothing or talking is very annoying. A great restaurant if you want something familiar and comfortable. Also it's a good for taking a group out for a night or something and no matter what, a good place to try out. It is also notable that that the restaurant opens at 11 PM and doesn't close until the place is empty which means you can always go at like 3 AM. I hope this review helped you out in deciding if to visit Kaieteur or not. I recommend the restaurant to every one seeking something different or if you're Guyanese, something familiar! Pros: Guyanese/ Chinese Cusine, Guyanese Staff, Authentic Guyanese, The Eruption Cons: Service, Drinks Sometimes more

Ask me about service! 4/15/2008

Don't get me wrong I love the food and the atmosphere is wonderful. But when it comes to service it stinks!! I have been coming to Kaieteur for about 8 years and I also eat out a lot. At least 2-3 times per day. I am a professor at St John's University and recommend my students to your restaurants. To the point, waitresses have come and gone, but the ones that have been there for years, their attitude are very nasty towards customers. They don't cooperate period!! But I do request three people in particular, they are Kaish, Indra and the girl who's recently lost her baby (she's new). Sorry but I'm not good with names. Their services are phenomenon. But I always was and always will be a customer there. Keep up the good work guys( 3 above), and food should keep tasting great. Thanks Krystal Pros: good Cons: good more
