Best Afgan cusine in the Bay Area, maybe in the country. Best lamb availiable anywhere. 11/28/2008

I have been regularly coming to Kabul since in opened many years ago, and the food has consistently been fantastic. Everything is good there, but the lamb may be the best there is anywhere, especially Chupan (on very few occasions it has not been sufficiently marinated but still excellent). Soups are also excellent. The portions are so large that my wife and I often split an appetiser, order a soup for each, and then split the lamb (1 skewer each) or order a lamb-chicken combination and split it. The servers may be a little rough at times, but they are all wonderful people and always want to make the customer happy. Pros: Everything is great. Cons: Soup sometimes is not warm enough. more

Should be a 4.5 stars, but I do love this place 11/18/2008

The traditional afghan dishes here are amazing. If you read the Kite Runner, and it left you aching to try Afghan cuisine, there is no better place on the Peninsula than Kabul. Absolutely delicious! Pros: Fantastic food. The side dishes are amazing. Try all! Cons: Dated decor in a strip mall. more

COUNT YOUR CHANGE!!! 11/2/2008

The last three times the food was barely warm, the service poor, and the amounts meager. The topper was when a neighboring table complained that they had been given too little change for their bill and that it had happened before. We have had that experience as well. BAD BUSINESS!!! Pros: Nice ambience, food can be tasty Cons: Not enough wait-staff, food is served barely warm, inconsistent portions, shortchanged more

What a GREAT Afghani nook!! 10/10/2005

This was my first attemot at afghani food and I must say... I have eaten there over 15 times in the past year ALONE!! They are wonderful. The food for sit in is great and the food for take out is the same. I will have to agree with the earlier post about the seats being a bit stiff. I also felt that the seating was a bit to close to other people. I could actually hear what the people next to me were saying. But other than that small little thing... it was EXTRAORDINARY! Pros: Food, Price, Quality Cons: Seating, Hidden location more

Great place for Lunch 1/19/2004

Went with a few co-workers. The place is a bit hidden in a stip mall. However, they have done a great job decorating inside. It's a really nice place. Walking in I thought it would be too expensive for lunch...it looked too fancy. But they have really reasonably priced dishes. Most kabob dishes are around $9 for chicken, lamb, beef, erc. We opted for the combination which was two skewers of your choice, so we could mix and mathc ($12.50). It was definitely worth it. A ton of food. And great taste. The beef was tender and really full of flavor, as was the lamb and chicken. A great meal. They really do give you a lot of food! Definitely put it on your list. Pros: Good value, Nice ambience, Good service Cons: Hard to find more

A Big Plus!!!! 9/21/2002

I've eaten at Kabul at least 15 times over the past 10 years and have yet to have anything but a wonderful experience. Well...except I find the chairs uncomfortable. The restaurant in San Carlos has way better decor than the one in Sunnyvale. more
