Umm - Yuk 1/12/2011

I travel to Dublin 6-8 times a year, and typically go to House of Japan. Since I was here a full week I decided to try something different - big mistake. I ordered the dinner box from Sushi Bistro Masa this evening, and was very dissapointed. Although the teriyaki beef was tender, the portion was very small. The sushi portions (spicy tuna roll and sashimi) were equally as small, but that was probably a blessing because this was the fishiest tasting ""unfresh"" sushi I've ever had. The tuna inside the spicy tuna roll was gray-ish in color - guessing this may have been made earlier in the week? The sashimi looked fresh, but had a very fishy, old taste. I've honestly had better sushi from Kroger. Needless to say, 80% of my dinner is now in the trash can. more

Don't Waste Your Time 7/29/2010

Don't even risk it. Went there on a Wed. night and it wasn't overly crowded. Waited over an hour for an appetizer (one of the $2 types that take that take about 5 minutes to make). We didn't stick around to see how long the main course would take. Servers were not very apologetic and borderline rude. This place has serious kitchen management and service problems. Go to Basho on Sawmill Rd. instead. Cons: Service more

Not A Good Choice - Sushi Bistro Masa 6/7/2010

Food was average, and I felt rushed and unwelcomed from the moment I walked in. And believe me, I eat out often at sushi places. (Don't go here if you want a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.) Okay, so, as soon as I walked in, I knew I was being rushed. It was 9:15, and they close at 10pm, so there was plenty of time. When I ordered, she brought everything out at once and said, ""Oh, it all came out at the same time because the kitchen is closing."", I'm fine with that if I'm 10 minutes before closing, but it was so impersonal and matter-of-fact as if they did not need my business. I won't come back. Sashimi portions were tiny...I mean about one inch long and half inch wide and one quarter inch tall (that's the tuna)...the Hamachi is paper thin. Sorry, but it's true. Well, I tried it....didn't like it. Pros: It was open after 9pm Cons: Rushed and Impersonal more

Best Japanese restaurant in Midwest 11/18/2007

I would rate Sushi Bistro Masa as the best Japanese restaurant in Midwest. I stop by this place to eat Masa's sushi whenever I come to Columbus. Fish is always fresh. Sit at the counter and ask Masa today's special. He offers the best sushi of the day. Service is good and the restaurant is clean. You are not going to be disappointed. more

Not just for Japanese 11/5/2007

What an entertaining evening! Sit at the sushi bar and watch the chefs prepare wonderful sushi! Ask head chef, Masa, to prepare something special just for you. You don't have to order strictly from the menu. Try the broiled butter fish, tuna carpachio, yakitoro, to name a few. This restaurant isn't only for the Japanese. A must try for everyone! Reservations recommended. more

Umami! Savory and Delicious 11/1/2007

Chef Masa at Sushi Bistro Masa is truly a Master Sushi Chef! Where else have I had sushi that can compete with Sushi Bistro Masa? Nobu in Las Vegas and Japonais in Chicago and compared to these two top restaurants, Sushi Bistro Masa is neck to neck and comes out the winner because of the higher level of intimacy and authenticity this small restaurant achieves - and Chef Masa's Umami touch. Pros: Both authentic and creative, and distinctly Japanese. Owner-chef restaurant more

Best Sushi Place! 10/31/2007

Very clean, nice atmosphere. The chefs and staff were professional and very friendly. Among many sushi restaurants in Columbus, this seems to be the one that many Japanese customers speak very highly of. If you want to eat authenetic sushi, or if you are tired of eating half-frozen sushi, you should try this place! more
