The SceneSitting a couple of miles off the Irwin exit of the turnpike, this dairy farm has manifold purposes: it's a milk processing plant, a bakery, a lunch spot, and an ice cream parlor. Kid-friendly, Kerber's also has a petting zoo in the summer, hayrides in the fall and a small playground yearround. It's so popular, you'd think the turnpike commission had redirected traffic. The FoodOwner Tom Kerber Sr. oversees the technical part of the operations; son, Tom, Jr., works on new and unusual ice cream flavors. Made with cream and milk from local cows, the thick, rich ice cream comes in flavors ranging from staples like vanilla to the totally outrageous Cow Patty (which adds three differently flavored cookie doughs to its chocolate base). A fully-stocked deli is also on the premises to prepare hot lunches Monday through Friday or party trays any day of the week.
