We ate lunch at around 2 p.m. on a Sunday. The place was almost empty, but the service was still slow! The menu is quite diverse, but most of the food is fried or frozen and prepared. The menu advertises homemade pies, but these were all frozen. The waitress even confessed the apple pie comes from Schwann's. All other desserts looked to be from a cake mix or freezer. Very disappointing!
A gross factor is that the salad bar is right next to the bathrooms. Not a great place for open-containers of
food.
The kids menu is full of starches, so no fresh veggies or fruit to be seen. You get a good amount of food for the money, but it's just your average bar or diner food.
If you have kids, they have a kiddie dining area, which is handy. It has toys and coloring books, as well as small tables.
I had the Country fried steak and it was pretty good, but the gravy was made with evaporated milk or something odd. The baked potato was average. My husband said the fries were terrible. He had something called Buffalo Fritters, which we found out are an Illinois delicacy. It's a local river fish and the fritters are just fried pieces. Not a great meal.
Overall, I'd say skip it if you are looking for a good meal. If you want average food, then this is the place to go.
