A GREAT Place to Work!! 8/14/2008

It's hard to imagine...but I used to work at Jumpin' Jack's THIRTY-FOUR YEARS AGO! I haven't lived in the area for a long time, but every time I'm back I definitely go there for at least one meal. The summer crew I worked with back then used to not oly provide good food but we'd do our best to ENTERTAIN the customers too. It was a fun place to work. (I was making $2.10/hr back then! I loved overtime. That meant I was making $3.15/hr!!) Pros: Great freshly prepared food Cons: Sometimes too hot to eat there during July and August. (May & June is peak season!) more

AWESOME! 6/13/2008

I will admit PROUDLY that I am a ""life member"" of eating at Jumpin' Jack's Drive-In for over 40 years! \r I have been to EVERY opening day on the sometimes (and often) cold, snowy and always windy days before 11:00am in March since 1968... except for ONE, while I was making a ""Med Cruise"" with the Navy in 1978. * Serving my country was the ONLY way I missed that one!!! \r \r My friends and I started back in 1968 from Central Park Junior High, as it was called ... then later from Linton High as it was called then..and then even from Bishop Gibbons, as it was JUST called then\r ( but we would date somone from Norte Dame, as it was called then..right Pam?? And you know who you are ;o) But no matter what school or even later in life with the jobs that have been held, we always went to hang out at ""JJ's (as we call it to this day) and the fun never ends! \r \r I can't think of a greater place to go to just mingle, talk (while in line) with friends and make new friends too... and get great food! The ambiance of the river and the park is worth the trip!\r \r And now that they have since added the concerts at Freedom Park, it's even better \r (although I still argue anyone EATING at Jumpin' Jack's SHOULD be the ONLY one's allowed to be parking there- right Scotia P.D.?? GRRR ) but that's also part of the mystique of going there too! \r But it is well worth the wait for the parking spot ...and the food! ;o)\r \r Now if they only sold those infamous JJ's Tee-Shirts & Hats with the year printed on them that employees wear for the PUBLIC to buy & wear!!! ???\r ...They would be collectibles for sure....& FREE advertisement too!! Do you hear me JJ""s???? HINT! Maybe sell them with portions of the proceeds going to a local charity, hmmm?\r \r But just get out to Scotia soon and try Jumpin' Jack's for the food & ice cream and become one of THOUSANDS who enjoy it as much as I do! Well almost,...because I am the Number ONE Fan! ;o) \r \r ~ JIm :o) D' VUT BEEP LIVES ON! Pros: EVERYTHING FOOD WISE IS GREAT! Cons: ATTENTION SCOTIA P.D. ~ THE PARKING SHOULD BE FOR EATING CUSTOMERS ONLY & NOT FOR THE PARK GO-ERS WHO TAKE UP ALL THE SPOTS!! GRRRR more

Good ol' fashioned Burgers and fries, onion rings and excellent service... 4/2/2007

Come and be a part of American History. Great time to be had at Jumping Jacks. You will not regret your visit. Might end up standing in line for a while but that is part of the mystique. Some really down to earth, good tasting burgers, fries, onion rings, clam or fish dinners, ice cream, cold soda and happy employees. I have been coming to Jumping Jacks since the mid 60s when we would tool the streets looking to drag race. Nothing much has changed.. The pavilions, and of course, - The paved parking lot. \r You don't know what your missing if you have never been here. more

My favourite place 6/27/2006

Jumpin' Jack's was the hangout for my friends and I from the time we were eight years old to still now. It's right by the river, and there are water shows and live music at the stage right next door. There's also a park right across the street with litle league games every weekend. It's a great place to go for a nice, fun time.\r \r The food is great, the atmosphere is perfect. The best place to spend an afternoon that I can think of. Pros: Good food, Good atmosphere. Cons: Crowds sometimes. more

Really Great 9/25/2005

You can't go wrong - a great experience. The best place for a greasy hamburger or some clam fries. The soft serve ice cream is really wonderful. You've got to try it! Pros: Atmosphere, Inexpensive, Live music next door Cons: A lot of teens, Crazy parking more

Jack Burger 9/26/2004

Everyone knows that coleslaw goes good with a burger, but did you ever think it'd be good ON a burger? Jumpin' Jacks did when they created the Jack Burger... two hamburgers with three pieces of bun and coleslaw in the middle. Add cheese and you won't be sorry! (The coleslaw's the best around, too!) more

For a burger, there is none better 1/20/2003

If you can find a better burger, I'd like to know where. Pros: Great food, Good Prices Cons: Can be crowded more

Awesome Eats 12/12/2002

I have totally enjoyed Jack's since I was just little. My two children and I wait for the Spring opening to go and enjoy. They sure know there foods and entertainment there. I've eaten all over the world and I will have to say Jack's is my favorite. Thanks Jack. Pros: reasonably priced, great outdoor eating, great ski shows Cons: hard to eat in rain, need bigger trays, tables to be cleaned more

So ya wanna go somewhere good? 8/14/2002

This place is awesome! I have been going there since i was a little kid- but what most people fail to mention is the fact that there is a recreational playground, waterski shows, rollerblading rinks, etc all across the street.. its a really great place to go. The ice cream is flavorfilled as well as the food. Give it a whirl... more

Old Time Drive-In Feeling 8/13/2002

Jumpin' Jack's Drive-In is just like stepping back in time. You park your car, get in line, order your food from the gang who seem to be having as much fun as you are, and wait to hear the cool nicknames for the food you've ordered. Then, if you're really nice and throw in a tip, the cashier yells ""subway"" and the gang yells ""Thank You"". You fix your food the way you like it at the condiment table and head off to the picnic tables. Sometimes, you get to watch the waterskiers do their thing on the Mohawk River. By the way, Try the famous JackBurger, you'll love it! Pros: lots of fun, good food Cons: parking lot crowded, needs more tables, long lines at times more

""BETTER THAN ......."" 8/3/2002

A Jumpin' Jack's cheeseburger w/ grilled onions is BETTER THAN.... well you know..... BETTER THAN of course Burger King in the flame-broiled dept. and BETTER THAN any cheesburger I have ever eaten and I've lived in MANY PLACES!!! It's great to eat on the banks of the Mohawk River.... Pros: Great food choice, best ice cream, JUST DIFFERENT! Cons: Crowded weekends more

Burgers along the Mohawk 7/31/2002

The best! The best! The best! The best! The best! The imaginative mind can see the lines of hungry and expectant patrons intespersed with the spirits of the envious Native Americans. Sit beside the beautiful Mohawk River across from the historic Schenectady Stockade and prepare yourself for an unbeatable burger experience. Excellent, succulent, juicey, and delicious! Add some fries and a cold drink and you have the meal of the summer season. Tested and proven by thousands! Pros: long time reputation, delicious, beautiful setting Cons: wait in lines, hot, too few tables more

great malts 7/29/2002

The ice cream is great, especially after downing their chicken dinner and a soda. prices are reasonable. Pros: great ice cream, many choices Cons: small parking lot, crowded at lunch more

The June, July & August Place to Be 7/23/2002

I have been going to Jumpin Jack's Drive In for longer than I can remember and have never had a bad meal there at all no matter what I have ordered. My favorite is their steak sandwich with onions, cheese and sauce with a side order of fries. Not very healthy but delicious and I treat myself at least once or twice per season. Their fish fries are excellent also. We also top our visit off with ice cream which is always delicious. If you haven't been to Jumpin Jacks you are really missing some wonderful food and the nostalgia of the old time drive ins. The only difference is you go to order the waitresses don't come to you. It is located right on the Mohawk River and there are many picnic tables to sit at with umbrellas to shade you from the sun. Pros: Good food, Fast Service, plenty of parking Cons: dirty restrooms more
