When I was four I saw a JSD recital at Graceda Park. It was kismet. The most advanced dancers, then, traditionally wore white leotards and white skirts. I remember seeing them move gracefully to the music and being inspired to do the same. It was a day I'll never forget. The backdrop of the natural surroundings enhanced the beauty of the day. With people mingling, relaxing and enjoying a day together, it was a true celebration of dance and life. Fortunately, I joined the school and continued to passionately love and study dance intensively for the next fifteen years at JSD and out of town with world renowned master teachers. Thanks to the training at JSD I can say I learned from a former Royal Ballet Company dancer who danced with and performed with Nureyev. I can also say I had a teacher who was a former dancer for Balanchine. I can list many more amazing artists of the dance world, but not without first giving the gratitude that is due to the talented instructors and staff of JSD who first trained me with open, giving hearts?once a dancer?always a dancer. Dance training is more than a dance education and it has helped me in all aspects of life. I've enjoyed watching the studio make positive advancements through the years. When I was expecting my first child I knew that if my child ever wanted to be part of the dance world- JSD would be the dance school of choice. Since then, I've enrolled two baby ballerinas at JSD and I've been nothing but smiles at what I've seen while observing their classes and previewing what is yet to come in others. Best wishes in your search for the right studio for you. As for me?I?ll always find happiness through dance thanks to my years at JSD.
