My husband had to run errands in the Martin Way area, and decided to go for Korean BBQ for lunch (which was very good too!). So, fully sated, my spousal unit and I decided to check out the rest of this very international strip mall. We dropped in to Julia's Bakery only because the sandwich board said they had tamales. I am not a fan of latin american pastries...but understand why so many people love them. My only complaint is this: I asked about the tamales, and she said she had cheese/jalapeno and chicken. All right, I took one of each figuring Spousal Unit and I would share each for a taste the next day. Then, said Spousal Unit joined me in the store. I pointed out the painting of Antiqua behind the counter. They start to talk...both of them are "chapin" (born in Guatemala), and suddenly there were pork tamales available to us.Just saying...apparently I was too gringa to deserve the pork.
