That's what the neon sign behind the bar says at The Joynt, the coolest, most worldly -yet-unpretentious bar you're likely to find ... well ... anywhere. The Joynt is narrow, cozy, decorated in dark wood and populated by a fascinating clientèle. They range from hipster college students to professors to punks to townies to Eau Clairites of all personalities and vintages. They all gather for great conversation and atmosphere. Years ago The Joynt was a jazz club -- the walls are decorated with photos of the musicians who played there -- and it retains a gritty, hip vibe. The drinks aren't bad, either: Last time I checked, you could get a glass of Leinenkugel's for 35 cents during happy hour (70 cents later in the night). Not the kind of place you'd go for a fancy cocktail, but if you want to people watch in downtown Eau Claire, avoid the college dives and dance clubs and head to The Joynt. One warning: Get there early; this place fills up fast.
