The atmospere is lovely at Joshu-Ya. The garden is relaxing and feels tucked away. But the food falls short. I've eaten here many times and never felt that my meal was anything more than passable. I recommend heading down the street to Norikonoko for homestyle Japanese food, or heading to Shattuck for sushi. more

good, but expensive sushi 3/21/2006

Joshu-Ya's is one of the best places to get sushi in Berkeley. They have all sorts of interesting rolls that are packed with delicious seafood. Their pieces are so big that you can barely fit it in your mouth. My favorite roll is the Delicious Roll which is spicy tuna wrapped in a bunch of other things. A great place to go if you're taking someone out for a special occassion. Great service. more
