Johnson's Hardware

This is a real old-timey hardware store with just about everything under the sun. If you need it, they generally have it, and the selection of hardware is the best I've seen in Nashville. Any kind of odd item, you can most often find there. But all good things come to an end, I suppose. Today, the owner told me the economy, plus the big chains like Home Despot and Lowes, have taken their toll. Johnson's may be calling it quits next year. Lastly, cat lady is off her rocker (see below). I've been going to Johnson's Hardware for years, and I've never seen an animal mistreated. I LOVE this store!!!!!!!!!!!! You can find what ever you need in this little store! I only have to go a few blocks from home and get carried away to memories of going to the local hardware store with my father when I was 4 or 5 years old. They are so helpful and truly happy you came to shop in their store. You expect to find higher prices in a small, locally owned sore but, I have actually found some prices are cheaper than other places. I hope neighbors will learn to shop locally...save gas, time and $$$$$ AND keep a wonderful neighborhood business IN BUSINESS ;) more

This place is great. They have it all. A friendly, knowledgeable, interested staff - and an impressive selection of ...stuff. So much stuff! Forget that crazy ""They hate cats"" review. How bunk is that lady? Listen, the cat is in there every day and he's fine. There's no piss on the floor and he gets plenty of food and water. Johnson's is a small, American-owned business. This is the way a hardware store is supposed to be. It's the way they used to be. The people in there know right were everything is. You don't have to wait for a sales associate who is just a hired gun making $7.50/hour and doesn't know how to fix anything more than a ham sandwich to come along and tell you, ""Unless you want me to fix a ham sandwich, I can't help you. Let me find someone in electrical."" Go to Johnson's Hardware. They'll treat you (and your cat) right. You may part with a few more pennies, but it's a nominal difference and well worth the higher quality you'll experience - both in product and personnel. more

They had a ""store cat"" used to catch mice. This cat was poorly mistreated, he had a very large sore on his right leg (had been there for over one week) he did have any food or water, or any place to go to the bathroom, so he used the entire store as his cat box. They asked me to take the cat to the Vet for them. After finding out the Vet charges I called the Owner of the store, who told me to have it put down or bring it to her and she would shoot the cat in the head. The Vet put him down, per the Owner of Johnson's hardware instructions. I called the Owner of Johnson's Hardware and told her the charges incurred, she refused to pay me or Vet Technician (who paid for the exam). The answer for why they cannot pay us is because they don't have the money, total $145.40. Please do not support this store because of the cruel and inhuman treatment to animals.
