I was a loyal customer for 6 years until I needed a rear differential for my SUV. It took three replacements and the 3rd was the wrong gear ratio. Went to use my 4wd and blew my transfer case (so much for road testing). When I told them the transfer case was blown, John and Jeff said not so, told me the problem was my front axle so they replaced that; still didn't work, then they said it was the front drive shaft so they replaced that until finally I said enough crap shooting diagnosis. The transfer case blew because john and jeff installed the wrong rear differential. They new that was the initial problem but tried to cover it up by creating more work (and income). In short, John Davis is an incompetent owner who either hasn't a clue that his lead mechanic Jeff is screwing his customers, or he knows and is just as unscrupulous and as much a thief as Jeff is.\r \r Previous to this incident, John told me I needed a new oil pan because the plug was stripped. He wouldn't replace just the plug because it wouldn't be reliable. OK, how much for a used oil pan John?--- ""about $600 for a USED one""!!\r \r Got it for $250.00 plus installation cost of $75.00 elsewhere.\r \r I have gone out of my way to not recommend John Davis Auto Repair and anyone who uses them needs to get their head out of their a....... as I did.\r \r The only god thing is the man has a heart condition so maybe he'll throw in the towel. more

Class act, trustworthy, honest, knowledgable and GREAT service! John and his crew of capable technicians cannot compare to ANY other service I've utilized for auto maintenance and repair! They identify problems immediately, even the less common error or malfunction, and if they couldn't I'm sure they'd be forward with their hypothesis and refer me to a diagnostics shop if needed. After identification, they tackle the problem with skill, finesse, and impressive ability! They've never damaged my engine or bodywork, they've always successfully repaired and troubleshooted my truck and car, and my friends' vehicles as well, upon my referral! I got my new car inspected by them prior to purchase, and they pointed out a few things my mechanic uncle had noted, and a few things his 20 years experience hadn't noted! They gave me honest opinion re: value of the car, potential investment in initial repairs and update maintenance, and confirmed it was worth more, much more, than I paid! Woot!\r On a Sat I've called at the last minute with ""shocks"" emergency, and they repaired it same day! No problem later, successful repair, long-lasting...and other shops have damaged my wheels, discs, rotors permanently when rushed or sloppy. Quick diagnoses and repair of oil system leaks, faulty heating core (referred me to radiator shop for that), failed water pump on my old truck, and identifying the shock wear this time on the car. I had that same car in 3 shops in 3 mo while traveling trying to diagnose the ""irregular shaking"" of the car and steering wheel at highway speeds, examining tires, rotors, brakes etc! and in a few minutes I was so grateful to be back at John's when they told me the shocks were causing my wheel anatomy of parts to wear out faster due to worn shocks (struts). Great fix, great advice, great help and service!\r \r Plus whenever I'm in for tires, fuel system check, etc they change my oil at no cost, as I travel over 480 mi weekly and burn through clean oil in no time. Pros: Superior knowledge and service, great communication! Cons: Can't just kidnap them and take them with me everywhere! more
