Mediocre food, slow delivery and poor customer service.
I typically only write reviews when something is incredibly good, or incredibly bad.
This was firmly in the latter column.
I ordered delivery from Johnny's the other night. Initially everything was fine. The menu looked good and when I called the order was placed and I was told that it would take about an hour to an hour and 10 min. Not bad, a little long, but OK.
An hour and 45 min go by and no food. So I call up and am briskly told that the kitchen is backed up with orders and that it will be on its way.
Another 15 min go by and I get a call from the driver saying he was just leaving and asking me for directions (no GPS, what?). So I give him directions..
10 min later I get a confused call from the driver again asking for directions. Which I once again provided.
Finally the driver shows. At this point the total wait time was 2hrs and 25min.
I tip the driver and send him on his way.
I open up the bag to find that our appetizer is missing, and that the food is cold.
At this point I call the restaurant and ask to speak to the manager.
I relay that my food took 2 hours to deliver, that I am missing an appetizer, and that the food is cold.
The manager proceeds to tell me that I am out of delivery range (7.2 miles away), and that they should not have taken my order. In response I simply ask that they take the missing appetizer off of the bill.
The manager refuses, tells me once again that I am out of delivery range and that it is late (of course it is, you took 2 hours to deliver, and now it's after 8:30 PM) and that they will not send the driver back out (which I never actually asked for). In response I once again ask to remove it from my bill (any responsible owner at this point should have comped the meal with it being cold, late and wrong). The manager once again refuses and tells me that I can have a free appetizer, assuming I come into the store and order another meal.
I hang up in frustration.
My wife and I eat the cold food.
Even if it had been hot, the Pad Thai is generic , bland and starchy. The coconut soup is poor and tastes of chicken stock (my wife at this point mentions that the Tom Kah that I made a few weeks back was substantially better). The Panang Curry was at least decent. Not the best I have had, but OK.
So my takeaway from this is that the manager is terrible, their customer service borders on felonious, and the food is only marginally good at best.
My suggestion. Avoid at all costs.
