We needed our HVAC replaced this passed summer, Meier was the first places we called. hey had one of their repair men come out to inspect our hvac. He thought it may be just the compressor and that the unit may not have to be replaced. I told him our husband and I were very tight on money since I had just lost my job and we were expecting our second baby. I agreed that if he could fix it instead of replace it that I would agree for him to him servicing our hvac. I told him up front that I didn't want it serviced if the hvac needed to be replaced anyway. He said it was no problem, and he only was going to check the compressor. After he checked the compressor he told me what I originally thought, the entire unit would need to be replaced and that one of the owners would have to give us an estimate on replacing it..
One of the Meier sons drove out to give us an estimate on what it would cost to replace our entire unit.
He gave us a high price, and my husband told him that would be hard for us to come up with that number. He then asked ""what my husband did for a living"", and then asked, "" if he would be getting a raise anytime soon."" He chuckled after asking my husband about the raise. My husband was shocked with how presumptuous he was. My husband shook his hand, told him thank you, and came back inside the house. 5 minutes later we received a phone call with an estimates about $100 lower than his original number. We told him we would get back to him after we received other estimates.
We ended up going with a much more down to earth and affordable company. RJ Nicely.
RJ Nicely was $450 cheaper than Meier, and it was using the same brand Meier had quoted us on. He didn't ask us about our finacil situation, our chuckle at my husband. His staff was pleasant and they worked quickly.
Since we didn't go with Meier, they sent us a $100 service bill, and I have refused to pay it. They didn't service our air conditioning unit, and they were so rude. They continue to harass us, they call at all hours and us a blocked number. We are going to report them to the better business bureau, and may file harassment charges.
