Food was average. Tried to use the group on offer but because it had expired they didn't even let us use the paid value. more

First trip today. It's Canadian Thanksgiving, so I wanted a turkey dinner. BIG MISTAKE. The ""Oven Roasted Turkey Breast"" was dry and looking like fried sliced meat. The ""Fresh Garden Vegetables"" still had a frozen bag taste, and the Mashed Potatoes had chunks of skin in them, which is not my thing. The stuffing was from a box, but not bad. Very dissapointing. I did get offered a replacement meal, but declined, since I was feeling sick to my stomach. I did get a 40% or so discount, but I doubt I will ever be back. more

VERY GREAT GOOD AND SERVICE 3/1/2012

I went to Johanna?s Kitchen looking for a good home cooked meal and that?s exactly what I got. The owner and waitress told me to try out the pot roast dinner, so I took their advice and ordered it. With it I got soup or salad and a scone or dinner roll. I decided to try the Caesar salad which was amazing!! It?s not your usual Caesar dressing there is a really good lemon lime zing to it. Then I got my pot roast dinner with a good portion of pot roast, a baked potato and vegies. Everything tasted amazing the pot roast was very tender and juicy. Then came the scone I could only fit a few bites in because I was already so stuffed from my dinner but I have heard so many good things about the scone I had to try it and it was worth it. The scone was great topped with the home made honey butter and the home made raspberry jam. SOOOO GOOD!!!! I would really recommend going here the food and service was GREAT!!! more

Best Breakfast in Town 2/29/2012

If you are looking for great food with large portions, this is your place. Johanna's Kitchen was suggested to me by a long time friend. I ordered the Ham Steak Breakfast which was by far the best Ham Steak I have ever had. The portions were huge and well worth the price. I took half of my steak home because I had heard so much about their famous scones. I decided to go the extra mile and order a sopapilla which was a hot scone covered with fresh strawberry topping and whipped cream. Absolutely fantastic. Can't wait to go back. more

Great food at Johanna's 2/29/2012

The family went out for dinner last nigh and had a great tome at Johanna's Kitchen! The kids loved watching the model train run around the track while we ate. We had some cheese fries to start that were awesome, big steak fries. I had Eggs Benedict with hash browns, who said you cant have breakfast for dinner. The hollandaise sauce was perfect with a nice hint of citrus. My wife had Victoria?s Special, scrambled eggs with jack cheese and diced ham, served with hash browns and a scone. She loved the meal and the scone was over the top! The homemade scones are served warm and topped with honey, strawberries and whipped cream. The kids had French Toast with plenty whipped cream and berries. Good food and good times! more

Amazing Pot Roast Dinner 2/22/2012

Johanna's Kitchen is a welcoming, homey restaurant located near Jordan High, the Sandy Expo center, and Megaplex 17. It has been here for a long time and is very popular with the locals. Some of the best things I have tried are made from scratch; the scones, raspberry jam, pies, rolls, green chile, biscuits and gravy, mashed potatoes, and chilli. My ultimate favorite is the pot roast dinner. I tried it when it was on early bird special, and for $10.99 i got a salad, huge-portioned pot roast dinner, a scone, and a free slice of key lime pie. Their pot roast is tender, and not greasy at all. It also came with carrots, mashed potatoes, veggies, and wonderful homemade brown gravy. I consider that to be an exceptional value. Their breakfast menu is available all day and is worth a try, too. And let me tell you, the folks at Johanna's KNOW how to do a good scone. more

HORRIBLE 10/11/2011

Cold greasy fried lunchmeat made up the ""HOMEMADE"" turkey dinner with wilted lettuce. $16 included a coke. I asked for a refund for the uneaten meal, not recieved. The stuffing was good, but tiny. I wondered why there was only 1 car in the parking lot. Now I UNDERSTAND! more

SUCKS!!!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO MY DOG! 3/23/2011

I have never in my life eatin at such a horrible place!!! I felt soooo bad for are little waitress as she kept having to apologize for all the crappy food when it was not her fault, no manager even came out to apologize or see why we were unhappy. they are grouse and overpriced I should have just gone home and had cereal!! the food was so horrible I wouldnt of even taken it home to my dogs as left overs!! I ordered a (loaded potatoe) that came out and was so little with unmelted cheese I could not believe that they were going to me 8.00 for that!! we had three meals and 3 kids meals we got them to take off the kids meals because they were so horrible and are total was still 40.00 while leaving I asked to talk to the manager.....some guy came out I told him the food was horrible and I was pissed I was paying 40.00 for food that tasted like crap and he said not one word I asked if he was the manager and he said no I am the owner I was appauled he did not even apologize or anything and I thought he was very very unprofessional I feel bad for the young girls working there that have to keep apologizing for the horrible food....and lets think about having more than one crappy cook!! if you were smart you would not waste your time!! more

Down Home Food 9/9/2009

Johanna's Kitchen is nestled just off State Street in front of Jordan High. The food and the atmosphere were a nice change from the hurry, hurry, hurry national chains just down the street. Breakfast is served all day for people like me that love bacon and eggs for dinner. My kids really liked the options on the kids menu and I really liked the price. They also enjoyed sitting near the train that chugs around the ceiling. Pros: Great variety on the menu Cons: Would have liked to see more options at the bakery counter more

I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy 6/3/2009

I have been to Johannas Kitchen about 5 times, usually ordering take out for breakfast. Not one time have they ever got my order right. And the sad thing is it's not special instructions or anything, just plain old from the menu omlette or whatever. One time I called them and they refused to reimburse me in any way until I argued and finally they would give me a discount on my next order. I haven't been there for about 8 months and my husband convinced me to try again. I ordered a Spanish Omlette and they gave me eggs and hashbrowns. I called to complain and the girl was silent on the phone until I finally just said Bye. I wouldnt reccomend you eat at this restaurant. Its overpriced, outdated, awful service, and the manager acts like a child. If you head a little down the road to Outpost Cafe you will be very pleased, especially for breakfast. Too bad I didn't. Pros: None! (can't you do no stars!?) Cons: Everything. more

Johanna's Kitchen in Sandy=Horrible Customer Service 1/2/2009

I just wanted to express to you the horrible customer service I had Pros: Not one single thing Cons: The manager/owner/cook, hostess, everything more

slow, bad service, food overrated 6/21/2008

for some reason this place has a good reputation. can't think why though. every time i've been here the service has been dismal and the food mediocre at best. more

Great rolls... 10/26/2007

The rolls really are the best. If you are looking to just eat rolls, or to take rolls home then I would recommend this place. I really tried to try the food but after 35 minutes I finally had to ask the hostess if I needed to order at the counter because no one came by to help us. The waiter came by and could not suggest anything but sandwiches and pie and had not tried anything on the menu that I was concerned about. I ordered a hamburger and my date ordered a sandwich and both were pretty bad, and they took a long time to prepare. When it came time for dessert the waiter talked about pies quite a bit so I tried one and it tasted like it was out of a grocery store. I will go back to give it another chance but the first time was a poor experience. Pros: Rolls Cons: Everything else more

Slow kitchen 9/9/2007

We went on a Sunday morning and were sat right away. However, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get our food and all the people around us had to wait at least that long. When our food was brought out they left off a portion and it was never delivered. The food we did receive was not very good and definately not worth the wait. Cons: Service and food more

low quality 8/4/2007

I had heard these chefs specialize in breakfast. The food is not good. I gave them a try for lunch a while later. They should sell this property and retire. An International House of Pancakes would do much better in this location. This Kitchen is out of style and low quality. It has been there too long with no inovation. more

Definitely not a 9.0 2/24/2007

Used to live in Salt Lake City and heard that Johanna's was a good place for breakfast. Left seven years ago, and tried it today (2/24/07) with my ten year old son. His giant cinnamon roll was good. However, my pancakes were ever so average. Tasted like Bisquick! Usually ""homey"" places can do a pretty good job with something as basic as pancakes, but Johanna's cakes are subpar. Ate 'em just because I was brought up in the Midwest where you eat everything you ordered. Definitely would not return. Should have went to Blue Plate like my son had suggested. more

Breakfast 2/27/2006

It you want a great tasting & affordable meal, you have to check out these guys. The breakfast if wonderful. I swear it will remind you of your grandma's food from back in the day. Besides myself & me husband, my kids love it! You will not be disappointed! Pros: great food, great service, easy access Cons: always packed, always packed, always packed more

A Redwood Road kind of place 12/20/2002

Sorry, I was very disappointed in Johanna's. My girlfriend wanted to take me out for a special birthday breakfast. We decided to try Johanna's for Sunday brunch. We were seated in a room where they had a TV broadcasting a sports event (I am not a sports fan!). The atmosphere of the place is old and not so clean. The food was unremarkable; very plain and ordinary. The service likewise. Pros: Nothing Cons: Ambience, Food, Clientele more
