Food was OK. Restaurant could use a cleaning. If the dining room was that bad, I can only guess what the kitchen looks like. \r \r

We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant, as well as greeted by our host Brandon. The service was wonderful and timely. Brandon made sure that he randomonly came back and forth to check on our experience. The meal was delicious and pleasantly played. Overall a experience was great. more

Went to Joe Pasta on my trip to Charleston, it was recommended to me by the hotel front desk clerk Eric, from Hampton Inn Charleston-Airport / Coliseum... When we arrived to the restaurant we were seated immediately and the server, Jacob was amazing!! Everything was brought out promptly and piping hot, which for me, is a very big deal... I ordered the Italian Nachos as an appetizer and they were awesome!!! For an entre I ordered the Chicken Parmesan, it’s was great the chicken was nice and moist and pasta was cooked perfect and please don’t get me started on the sauce, mmmmmm (I want the recipe!!!!). The drinks great, the bartender who I think is also the GM at the time, I believe his name to be David took great care of us as well... I do frequent Charleston allot for work and will be having my next meeting with clients at the restaurant next time I have to come back to come back to the area... THANK YOU JOE PASTA EVERYTHING WAS AWESOME!!! DON'T CHANGE A THING!!!! more

Food & service was good. Had salads & a Meat Pizza. The Pizza was spiced nicely with plenty of meats & was a very thin crispy crust version. Coffee was flavorful & the server kept the cups FULL! more

Enjoyed a late night meal here on each of my visits to Charleston the past three years. Food is great and you can enjoy a nice glass of wine in a pleasant setting. Will definitely return! more

It's a pasta place but they do it right. Not your uncle's Ragu and noodles. Good stuff. Ask the wait staff and they'll help if you're feeeling like more than meatballs. My son can devour the Rosa sauce and that is really good stuff. more

Wonderful entree experience! Served hot, I despise slightly hot food that gets cold 1/2way through eating it, and this place definitely did NOT create that problem. The food portions were great, and the food tasted amazing. more

We had a terrible experience at Joe 5/27/2012

We had a terrible experience at Joe Pasta tonight. Our food was terrible and the pizza was under cooked to the point that the toppings fell off the pizza from it being so limp. Adding to the terrible experience was the 20% gratuity charged when the bill arrived. When we asked the waitress why we were charged 20% she said it was because we had six people (we had 4 adults and 2 kids under 5yrs old). Our waitress, nor anyone else in the establishment pointed out the fact that we were being charged the gratuity even after we received the bill. We asked her to point out to us where this policy was disclosed and she grabbed a menu and had to pull the sheet out of the menu sleeve because it is typed at the bottom of the page, which was not visible when the sheet was in the menu. Obviously we were concerned that they hide this and feel it necessary to ""pull a fast one"" on their local patrons. Our waitress also gave us a lot of attitude when we were simply trying to understand their shady business practices. We are local patrons that will never eat at Joe Pasta ever again. I hope their mandatory 20% gratuity was worth losing a lifetime customer. WE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE EAT AT JOE PASTA. more

I had a great experience. 2/19/2012

The other reviews were not so good, but they were old. Joe's has obviously changed management, as we (5) had a great time! Happy Hour beer from 4-8, half priced apps. at the bar during happy hour, and great food. Try the Italian Nachos, please. You'll never order nachos at a Mexican restaurant again. We had the lobster ravioli, and other pastas that were chosen off a list to customize your meal. All were well prepared, hot, and plentiful. Our reservations were at 7, and we were seated exactly on time. I would definitely go again.,I would never take a restaurant review arena to air my personal problems with a boss! How tacky! more

Don't you mean Joke Pasta?!!? 10/15/2011

As a previous employee of Joe Pasta, I am only writing this as an eye-opener to any that are considering a position at this establishment. Lets begin with the management. The general manager is very unprofessional. During prime dining hours, the ""GM"" will walk around the restaurant, alcoholic drink in hand micro-managing and not helping when help is beyond needed. (i.e.) The kitchen will be backed up with food orders, leaving tables questioning why their appetizers are 45 minutes to an hour and their entrees two hours... leaving guest fuming, some leaving. NO TIPS. The ""GM"" will go behind the line and yell at the cooks. Not even offering a hand. Well, we all know how you can you lend a hand when the hand is full with alcohol. The ""GM"" will allow you to request off and give your availability for school only to completely schedule you for days you can't work or not even schedule you at all. Please correct me if I am wrong, but, the food and bev industry is all about flexible hours and fast money. You get neither at this place. Who tips on bad food, long wait time, and unprofessionalism? I wouldn't! The bar manageris BEYOND a joke; he writes long ""rules"" of the bar and post them around the restaurant. These rules are rules that all experienced bartenders know: ""soak soda guns"", ""wipe down the bar"", ""stock beer according to par"". Write up slips are his friend. Getting back to stocking beer according to par, there is no par, you still will be written up for rules that are not even completed by the manager. Isn't his job as a manager to produce pars so that bartenders can follow and shouldn't you follow your own ""rules"" when you are a fellow bartender? I'd think so, but he doesn't. Blame is passed and passed onto the innocent. These are just a few examples of what a freakshow this place is. This place will make you crazy. If you are experienced, don't waste your time. You will literally want to pull your hair out by how this place is ran. I have been in the service industry for a while. I have been in every front of the house position. I have never experienced the unprofessionalism and disrespect that I witnessed first hand. I shoud have ran out the minute I was applying. I should of paid attention when I couldn't see as I was filling out the application, vision blurred, from the bad vibes and grease lingering in the air. more

Worst food I've ever had 9/21/2011

I had some out of town visitors, and we had been walking around downtown when we decided to get something to eat. We decided to go to Coast, since I have been there before and the food is good. However, they were not open yet since it was between lunch and dinner, so we decided to go to Joe Pasta right across the street. What a mistake that was. I didn't expect greatness, just something fairly decent that would tie us over until dinner later in the evening. Little did I know that it would be the worst dining experience I've ever had. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice, and it was very noisy inside. My first clue that this was going to be a disaster was when I saw that the table was sticky with dried up soda, and covered with dead flies. The waitress came over to take our order. She was actually very nice and attentive. We ordered Joe's Platter, a sampler of various appetizers, such as mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders, bruschetta and fried cheese ravioli. The food arrived. Nothing remotely italian about this. Everything was over fried and dry, served with a honey mustard sauce and something that I think was supposed to be a very watery flavorless marinara sauce. The bruschetta was a split sub roll, (texture was like a hot dog bun), that was soggy from balsamic vinegar, topped with chunks of tomato and pre-grated parmesan cheese out of a can. Being the positive person I normally am, I was hoping that the main course would be better. My mom and girlfriend ordered the Margherita pizza, and I designed my own, with tomatoes, mushrooms, gorgonzola cheese and capicola ham. We also ordered a small pasta salad. The pasta salad arrived first and consisted of penne pasta and various vegetables, mostly tomatoes and onions. The pasta was hard and dry, not hard as in al dente, but from having been cooked a long time ago and dried up. The whole concoction was drenched in a very vinegary italian dressing that obviously came out of a store bought bottle. Nothing seems to have been made on premises. Well, surely the pizza must be ok, right? Wrong again. After what seemed like an eternity, 3 servers emerged with the pizzas. All three pizzas were covered with a 1/4 inch layer of water that must have separated from the watery marinara sauce, which made everything a soggy tasteless mess. There was no flavor or texture to anything. The capicola ham on my pizza could just have been a few pieces of bacon bits. What really made it nasty was the ""crust"". Or lack there of. I mean, if your specialties are pizza and pasta, at least make the crust out of dough. These weren't even pre-made pizza crusts, but something that reminded me of large round wonton wrappers, with the sauce and topping extended over the edges so you couldn't even see what was underneath until you cut into it. This shold not even be allowed to be called a pizza. Chucky Cheese's makes better pizza than that. Everybody were disgusted with their food and only took a few bites. The most bizarre thing happened when my girlfriend asked the waitress for an ashtray. She went into the restaurant and came back out with an ashtray full of cigarette butts, and simply dumped them out on the sidewalk in front of us and put it on the table. Do not go to this place, you will waste your money, and I can guarantee you that you can go ANYWHERE and get better food for a lot less money. It's not good nor cheap. I would have given it zero stars if that was an option. I see some reviews that has given it 5 stars, but I highly suspect that those reviews are written with people affiliated with Joe Pasta. I always try to find something positive to say, and this is no exception. The ice water was nice and cold. more

SERVICE IS HORRIBLE 1/15/2011

I went there with my friends and we were trying to order drinks from the bar from a female bar tender. Not only did she serve two guys next to me before serving me (even though I had been there for 15 minutes longer than them) but she also had an attitude. When she finally came over and took my order she explained the cost in bar lingo and became angry when I did not understand. Then she accused me of ""getting smart"" with her, and when I calmly explained that I had misunderstood her while repeatedly apologizing, she told me to leave the bar. Apparently she was the manager. Since Joe Pasta allows this type of customer service and would hire a manager who is so disrespectful to their customers, I will no longer give them my service. I have worked in the retail and food industry service and I know that even if the customer is rude, you should never disrespect them. Not only was I respectful but I apologized for something that did not owe an apology. I do not think that anyone should have to go through what I went through so I do advisee that you stay clear of Joe Pasta. more

Graet Italian food at a reasonable cost. 6/17/2010

my wife and I go to Joe Pasta's about twice a month. It's one of our favorite nights out. The food is always great there. Waiters are attentive and a night out doesn't clean out your wallet. it's hard to find a good spot where you can enjoy a good meal and you can carry on a conversation with your dinner partner and hear each other. I couldn't recommend a better dinner spot for you and your family. You'll e impressed! Pros: Great food, great service, reasonable prices more

Awful food, awful staff 2/28/2010

I would have been happier eating a can of beefaroni. Its a shame that Fazolis can make better food than Joe Pasta. The service was horrible as well. Rude people, terrible food, expensive (for the low quality food), over all I agree with those who say keep walking. I notice that one person gave Joe Pasta a glowing review and the rest sound more like mine. Hmmm. I wonder if that guy works for Joe Pasta?? To the owner: get a clue, your employees are going to ruin your business. Pros: nothing Cons: everything especially the service more
