I read about Tom McCall and his Joe Fassi's Sandwich Factory in the book St. Louis Italians by Eleanore Berra Marfisi. I had the Pranzo Salad and a Meatball Sub with marinara. The Meatballs were handmade by Tom right there in the shop. The Marinara is to die for! The Pranzo salad was the most fabulous and interesting salad I'd ever eaten. It made your mouth wake up and go, ""Whoa, Nelly!"" Even though I ordered the small salad, it was filling and we could only sample our meatball subs. Tom must add comeback sauce to his sandwiches, because after eating one, you definitely want to come back.
