Jive Time Records

I so appreciate that small sector of society who refuses to let vinyl slip away. Some bands just sound better with a little snap, crackle, and pop. And the cover art is so much more impressive. Jive Time has pretty knowledgeable staff without the record collector 'tude. (C'mon - I know you've seen Hi Fidelity, and yes - most record geeks are really like that.) If they don't have what you're looking for - they can usually point you in the right direction. more

Probably the best record shop in the Pacific Northwest (or anywhere else for that matter) Jive TIme Records is exceptional in every regard. Dealing mostly in LPs (with a good selection of used cds and high-quality dvds) Jive Time is nearly picture-perfect. At its worst, shopping for used LPs can be dirty work - some used-LP dealers stack boxes upon boxes of used, trashy, LPs from floor to ceiling. Jive Time is the antithesis; the store is immaculate, practically every LP you see is in pristine condition, and there is a lack of clutter. No doubt, this is a conscious choice - to raise the business of used record shopping to an art form. The specialty at the Fremont shop (see also the Capitol Hill shop) is Soul. Jive Time searches far and wide for Soul LPs so you don't have to. However, although Soul is the specialty here, you'll still be able to find whatever Classic Rock, Rap, Metal, Punk, or Pop LP that you are looking for- plus LP, handmade buttons, etc. Simply put, Jive Time rules. more

Jive Time is a great place for both collectors and casual vinyl buyers alike. Unlike Bop Street, Jive Time has things very well organized and clearly priced as well. I f you're loking for a collectors copy of out of print or limited editions talk with the clerk, if they doon't have it they're probably going to give you advice on where to look. This place is a happy medium. I would recomend it to any one searching out 60's and 70's LPs, but don't go looking for CDs they don't carry any of that shiny crap! more

Does Fremont offer the best shopping options in Fremont? If you're looking for collectible vinyl records, it sure does, thanks to Jive Time. I'm not much of a collector, but even still I was astounded by the selction of old vinyl lps at Jive Time. Their specialties are in rock and soul/R&B. If that's not your cup of tea, you can also peruse their used cds section, and feel free to get recommendations from the knowledgeable staff. more
