Behring-Hermoso Jiu-Jitsu was founded in 2004 out of necessity to have a Clean, Safe environment that students looking to learn and excel in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kodokan Judo and could train without experiencing some of the "Bad Elements" that sometimes accompanies these types of schools. We train hard but not at the expense of others. We believe in "Mutual Welfare and Benefit" in our training.
Behring-Hermoso Jiu-Jitsu teaches Woman, Men, Youth and Children. We are also a vision impaired training center under the United States Association of Blind Athletes.

What is Jiu-Jitsu?
Jiu Jitsu is translated as gentle art/soft art.
The term "gentle art" was to convey the guiding idea that lies beneath all Jiu- Jitsu, both classical Japanese Judo and modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the idea of using one's own strength in the most efficient way. Rather than resisting force with force, the idea is to yield to force and then use an opponent's strength against him, using efficient technique in an intelligent fashion to overcome raw strength and aggression, this is the philosophical core of jiu-jitsu.

Hermoso - Behring Jiu Jitsu is under the supervision of Prof. Michael Hermosillo and Mestre Sylvio Behring of Rio De Janerio. Our team is getting bigger and stronger. Not only in the sport of Jiu Jitsu, but in Self Defense as well. For many years in Brazil all academies just focused on tournament Jiu Jitsu and BJJ's history was forgotten. Mestre Sylvio Behring is one of the most talented and respected Instructor's in Brazil. He keeps alive the tradition of teaching Judo and Self Defense. He is the only one to have developed a system to make it easier to learn Jiu Jitsu, called the "Progressive system", and under this system our students can learn Jiu Jitsu techniques faster.. The Mini Monkey program is designed especially with children ages 5-8 in mind and is offer exclusively at Behring-Hermoso Jiu-Jitsu. Classes focus on simple yet effective standing and ground self-defense,coordination and fitness. This is a high energy class where children are taught Martial Arts skills through specially developed games not seen anywhere else. Parents are encouraged to jump into class as well and learn how to "play" Jiu Jitsu with their child.
Junior Jiu-Jitsu
Our instructors are great with children,but this class makes it easy. Classes are fun and energetic while keeping focus on standing and ground self-defense as well as sport techniques. Typical classes will focus on techniques from our structured curriculum. Something that is surprisingly absent from the majority on BJJ schools which also focus heavily on sport moves. Being able to control self-defense situations verbally is also covered. The whole goal is to not use the skills unless there is no other alternative.
