I began looking for chiropractic care as soon as I moved to Bend 14 years ago. Dr. Wilkens was the first appointment I made and I have found no need to go anywhere else. He is personable, careful, and thorough with the ultimate goal of getting his patients healthy, functional, and pain free as quickly as possible. I have been a chiropractic patient for Dr. Wilkens for over 20 years and have been consistently delighted with the treatment I have received from him over the years. Dr Wilkens is certified in several different adjustment techniques which, I have found, makes for a very thorough, effective adjustment in the most comfortable way possible. Over the years that I have been a patient of Dr. Wilkens I have come to him for help in several different areas including back pain, headaches, tendinitis and jaw trouble. Dr Wilkens has treated each one of these problems with skill and knowledge and each of them have completely disappeared under his care. Dr Wilkens is a man of exceptional integrity and you can be absolutely sure that he truly has your best interest in mind as he treats you and advises you. His office staff are very accommodating and work hard to get you an appointment as quickly as you need one -- frequently the same day. Dr Wilkens and his staff also respect their patients' time. In my experience, patients only very rarely wait more than five minutes past their appointment time before seeing the doctor and usually the office is running on time to the minute! I have lived all over the USA, Canada and Europe in some of the major cities of the world and have been treated by different chiropractors in these places. I appreciate the help I have received from each of these chiropractors, but I have to say I have never encountered one that I trusted quite so much or whose care has been so effective as Dr. Wilkens. I have been seeing Dr. Wilkens, as needed, since he was recommended to me after a car accident in 2001. I had seen a chiropractor a few years prior, and had a bad experience, so I was hesitant to get chiropractic treatment. That particular chiro used sheer physical force to try to correct my spine, and after suffering a pinched nerve in my back, I vowed never to see a chiro again. HOWEVER, I was desperate. My situation clearly required a chiropractor, and Doc Wilkens was highly recommended. Jim Wilkens knows spines. He has never asked me ""Where does it hurt?"". I tell him generally what I'm experiencing, and he merely starts to gently examine my spinal column, and has never failed to stop at the spots that are tender or out of whack. That to me is the sign of a man who knows his stuff. There are no guessing games. I have nicknamed him ""Dr. Magic Fingers"". This talent alone gives me tremendous confidence that I am in good hands. Dr. Wilkens does 'gentle' manipulations to adjust you, and uses a few gadgets that are extremely effective. No need to worry about getting your neck cranked sideways here, or getting a 'body toss' against the table. Doc keeps up with the latest information, techniques and technology. One of the things I appreciate most about Doc is that he wants you to be well, and doesn't suggest continuing treatment unless there's a need. Does he always fix the problem on the first appointment? No, but some of us are physically rougher on our bodies than others. His goal is to get you back to fully functioning, and he doesn't string you along to keep you coming in just because. Also, his staff has always been caring and professional. They understand you are experiencing pain, and they try their best to get you in ASAP to get you back on the road to wellness. Doc sees lots of patients, however I have never felt like 'a number' at this office, or like patients are getting run through like cattle. Dr. Wilkens is engaging, and gets to know his patients and their lifestyles. He has both a wonderful sense of humor, yet very sincere empathy when you are in pain. I have recommended Dr. Wilkens to half a dozen friends or coworkers, both men and women, who were experiencing either acute or chronic pain conditions. Every one of them made the effort to connect with me later and gave GLOWING reports about how quickly and completely he relieved their pain or condition. No need to dink around experimenting, trying to find the 'right' Chiropractor. Just go see Dr. Wilkens. You'll be glad you did. more

I have been going to Dr. Wilkens for years, after initially going to several other local chiropractors. Beyond his professionalism, and his education and knowledge of the mechanics and health of the body, he has an intuition that I have experienced and have learned to trust. Through the years Dr Wilkens has consistently relieved pain in my neck, back, hips, right ankle and knee. After two auto accidents my neck was especially painful and Dr. Wilken's adjustments were the most effective in relieving the pain. I sprained my ankle quite a few years ago and suffered a couple of years with it before I mentioned it to Dr Wilkens. Much to my surprise he adjusted it and the pain was gone. It still goes out now and then and when it does I go back to him and he adjusts it and away I go to hike some more. I spent a year in Dr. Wilkens NRT program. This nutritional program helped me to reduce inflammation in my body which sometimes caused me as much pain as being out of adjustment. Learning how to eat healthier also gave me back energy I had lost by eating foods that were not good for me as an individual. I very much appreciate how the NRT program is geared to each individual and that Dr. Wilkens understands how sensitive some bodies are. more

Dr. Jim Wilkens is a great chiropractor! My neck and shoulders tend to “lock up” and cause some pretty intense headaches. I’ve also suffered for years with hip and back pain. When Dr. Wilkens adjusts my neck and back I get immediate relief. He is always willing to listen and really cares about helping me feel better as fast as possible.
