Jim C. Hamer Company, located in Webster Springs, W.Va., owns and manages more than 600,000 acres of timberland and five sawmills. The sawmills have a dry kiln capacity of more than 1 million feet. They produce green and dried lumber and are located in Curtin, Mt. Hope, Madison and Rachel, W.Va. and Prestonburg, Ky. The lumber produced by the company is double-end trimmed, properly conditioned and kiln dried to 6 to 8 percent moisture content. It also grades its lumber before and after kiln drying. The company also supplies Northern Appalachian hardwood veneer. The veneers are used in laminate flooring, cabinets, store fixtures and furniture. The company ships its products by truck domestically and by container for export.
