Owner Message
  • The Detroit Jewish News is a pro-Zionist newspaper that has been serving Metro Detroit's Jewish community since 1942 with news and opinion that's engaging, educational, enjoyable and unique. We strive to reflect a full range of diverse viewpoints while also advocating positions that strengthen Jewish unity and continuity. From stories on local Jewish business owners, philanthropists and students and coverage of local events and synagogues to in-depth looks into the issues of the day and how they directly impact Detroit's Jewish community and coverage of news and events in Israel, the JN strives to be the most respected, outstanding Jewish community publication in the nation. While the Jewish News has won more than 100 press awards in the past 10 years, including several years as a Michigan Press Association Newspaper of the Year in its circulation class, our true rewards are informed, educated readers and very satisfied advertisers. The Jewish News is committed to supporting Metro Detroit's Jewish community and lends its support to a wide variety of causes and events, including Walk4Friendship, Walk For Israel, Henry Ford Mothers and the JCC Maccabi Games, among others. The Detroit Jewish News Foundation is a nonprofit organization has digitized the entire contents of the Detroit Jewish News – about 260,000 pages – dating back to 1942 and made it available to the public for free. The mission of the JDN Foundation is, through education, to make the history of the community and the thousands of families who shaped it relevant to current and future leaders.
