On a recent trip to the ""Jeweler on The Square"" with my fiancee, we were checking out some of the great vinyl (records) they/he had for sale. Everything was fine, and after looking through the records in the back of the store we saw some crates on the floor with more vinyl so we thought we would give it a look. Don't get me wrong, the guy has some great stuff...the stuff isn't the issue. After going through the crates for a minute the owner very rudely asked ""May i HELP you with something?"". My fiancee replied to him that we were really enjoying his vinyl selection and that soon we would probably be coming to back to make a sizeable purchase. He then said, again VERY rudely, that ""I believe the sign says that those records are NOT for sale, the ones in BACK are!"". My fiancee then apologized and said that we didnt sse the sign...because the crates were on the FLOOR with things piled in front of AND on top of them. There was indeed a small paper sign taped to one of the crates but it was NOT visible when we began looking. She then asked if they were GOING to be for sale and what their story was and he EXTREMELY rudely said ""Umm, for my enjoyment"" and then stared at us angrily until we left. Of course i was red in the face mad and ready to storm back in and tear this guy a new ****ole, but i calmed myself and we went about our day. All it would have taken was a simple ""Sorry guys, those are my personal records and theyre not for sale, but thanks for coming in.""....anything is ALWAYS better than what basically amounts to verbal abuse. I used to work on the Square some years ago, and after this i remembered that this guy has a reputation for treating people this way on frequent occasion. He must figure he gets enough business from collectors buying high end items that casual customers can be written off and talked down to like idiots but he is mistaken. We planned to buy quite a bit of vinyl from him, but i will NEVER set foot in his store again, not that he gives a crap. I would strongly recommend that you do the same and not give this jerk your hard earned $, but do what you will...i just couldn't let it slide without saying something.
