After having dealt with OAH for several years now I cannot recommend them to anyone. I have come to totally distrust them when it comes to how they charge for their services. They recommend way too many and far too frequent vaccinations. I believe these are truly meant to profit building for their clinic.To make mandatory twice a year kennel cough vaccinations for dogs who do not even board anywhere is outrageous. They are also very bad about not letting you know what to expect your bill to be until you get to the front counter to check out only to find out that your bill is $300 and not near what you expected for a routince visit. Recently I took our 15 year old cat to OAH and explained she was not herself and that due to her age we did not wish to spend a lot of money for anything like cancer or such. Yet again $300 later we foind out that she had nothing more than a urine infection, but rather than start looking for something obvious like thisd Dr Elrod as she ALWAYS has done order more

I am really saddened by the proffessionalism of this clinic. I took my cat of 10 years in because of what I expected was poisoning. Which indeed a neighbor 3 houses down had to put her cat down because of rat poison. He was severly dehydrated and they put him on fluids "hopefully that day". I was told I would recieve a call in the afternoon and never did, so I called at 2:30 PM to check on him, the receptionist told me the doctor was on lunch, so I asked is my cat still alive to which I recieved a "laugh" and she said "I quess so". This vet was recommended to me by 2 people I work with which I now regret. I will not take my 2 Shepherds to this vet and will not recommend them to anyone. I am hoping and believe the doctor done all he could, but the proffessionalism of the staff is horrible. I will be looking for another vet. You'll never find a better vet than Jere Colley. He is the most knowledgeable and caring vet I have ever had.He is genuinely interested in your pets health. His compassion is unlimited. I can't believe anyone would go anywhere else. There are not enough stars here to give him. more

Dr. Jere, Hi hope you remember us,, Tom and Jean LeGere. We got our dog April 1, 1982 from you after the loss of our first dog. One day about a year later you called us and asked us to stop by and see something Well it was just what we didn't think we wanted after loosing our first dog that we loved so very much,but you insisted just take her home for the weekend and see if you like her. As you well know she was a keeper and I believe you got her brother Rusty they were poodle-Terrier mix (I think) Anyway they didn't shed at all and with there curly hair they were both so adorable.What a blessing that turned out to be.Katie was such a loving dog and so very well behaved. We both loved her so very much no words could ever explain.Unfortunately for us she had to leave to be with the lord as we wouldn't let her go on with her pain from pancreatic diabetes so we let her go to be with the lord on May 23,2009. Dr.Colley is very sweet,Dr.Hunt is funny,Dr.Elrod is sensitive.I think that is a wonderful combination of Dr.s at the Opelika Animal Hospital. I enjoy working there. more

I LOVED TAKING MY PET SCHNAUZER PEPSI TO THIS VET. THEY HAVE A WONDERFUL STAFF AND CARING DOCTORS. WHEN MY BABY WAS SICK THEY EVEN CALLED HOME TO CHECK ON HIM ROUNTINELY. Opelika Animal Hospital wasnt voted best animal hospital for 4 years for no reason. They treated my pet with great care, and that is what they are known for. They have very clean boarding facilities and a large staff so that every pet gets plenty of playtime. The doctors and staff showed great compassion and care for both the pets and their owners, and that is why I will continue to use Opelika Animal Hospital. As a vet clinic, they are not good at saving the lives of animals. They are also very expensive. I'd reconsider before setting foot in this animal hospital. There are many other vet clinics in the community to choose from. I have no idea how they are with pet washing, grooming, supplies and accessories; perhaps they redeem themselves in that area. more
