I only have positive things to say about JPA, especially the director, Alethea Jenkins. She pours her heart into each student and carefully selects a staff of qualified, cheerful and patient people who interact individually with each child. All three of my kids have been students and I've been thoroughly impressed for the last six years that they have been attending. My ex wife and I can't even agree on the importance of drinking water but we both are strong supporters of JPA! more

Best preschool in town! 12/3/2010

This is my son's second year at JPA and he absolutely loves it. I love it too! The teacher's are highly qualified and great with the kids. The class sizes are small and they do an amazing job of balancing play with learning. They also offer a program for 2 year olds, which is hard to find in most other preschools. I would highly recommend JPA to other parents! more

Our son is in the 3 year old class at JPA, and he absolutely loves it! It has been the best thing for him! We looked at several preschools Wilmington, and this is the best hands down. The class sizes, education and experience of all the teachers, and price...you can't beat JPA! We love it! more

  • How do you know if your child is truly prepared for Kindergarten? Jenkins Preschool Academy offers all the components of a high-quality preschool program. However,we are unique in providing Response to Instruction. This method assures that children are successfully mastering the academic concepts and foundational skills needed in later grades. We do not assume that every child will learn at the same rate or in the same way. Because of the variance in children's learning rates and abilities,it is essential to know if the instruction is effective sooner,rather than later. To determine the effectiveness of our instruction,JPA tea hers frequently collect,chart,and share data with parents to show that students are acquiring the necessary basic skills. If the data tells us that the instruction is not meeting the needs of your child,then we adjust the instruction. This progress monitoring and data-based decision making method is widely used in New Hanover County Schools at th e elementary and middle school levels,but Jenkins Preschool Academy is the first to incorporate it at the preschool level.
