Jayne Marie On Cross Lake

My husband and I along with two other couples went to Jayne Marie's for dinner tonight. It was a Saturday night and they were packed. A large function upstairs and the dining room downstairs was full. They had live entertainment in the dining room and it was really great. As busy as they were we knew it might take a bit for our food so, we ordered drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were wonderful and we enjoyed cocktails. We decided all of us would have steak. The ladies had filets and the guys went with the Ribeyes. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our steaks were tender, flavorful and simply delicious. We enjoyed our baked potatoes and grilled asparagus with our steaks. For dessert, each couple shared bread pudding and bless the heavens because this was the best bread pudding I have ever tasted. Our service was really great even though it was a busy night. The views at Jayne Marie's are really gorgeous. The lake on a summer night is really romantic. A great evening and we will be back again in the next couple weeks. I was told by our server that the new Chef who was formerly with the Robinson Film Center is now at Jayne Marie's and I have to say he is must be loving this place because the food is great! I had heard about Jayne Marie's from several people and we thought we would give it a try during the week. Wow! We were so surprised about the best kept secret in Shreveport! This place is amazing. The place is located on Cross Lake so the setting is beautiful. It use to be Smith's Cross Lake Inn years ago. The new owners have done a lot of work to the place. Our food was so outstanding that I had to eat everything on my plate. I had the Bison and never had tried this kind of meat. It was better than eating beef. The glaze they put on the Bison is heavenly. My friend had fresh lobster that was the size of our table. What a lobster and it looked so good I had to sample it. Melt in my mouth. Our server was professional but not pushy and made sure we were pleased with everything. I have to say we will be back again next week. I have found my new favorite place to dine. I hate to cook and now I know who will be cooking for me. Pros: great service, delicious food, beautiful view Cons: can't think of any more

I normally do not write about places to dine. But I have to say that this place is such a wonderful place for dinner that I decided to do a restaurant review so people learn about this restaurant. My husband and I just bought a home in the area and we were worried we wouldn't have a nearby restaurant to have dinner at. Then we found Jayne Marie on Cross Lake. We had dinner there two times now and it is our favorite place. The views are so lovely and the service is excellent. The new manager is so professional and friendly. He came to our table twice to make sure we were happy with our food. The seafood at Jayne Marie is superior. Everything is fresh. I have now had the Red Snapper and Salmon and both were delicious. My husband also has had a steak that was the best steak he said he has ever had. I wish they were open on Sunday's because there is not a lot of choices for dining out on Sunday in Shreveport unless you like the big chain restaurants.
