Java Jones has the best coffee. They put Starbucks to shame. It's a little coffee shop in Isla Vista where you can find an interesting mix of people. Besides drinks they also have some munchies and candies to choose from. It's a good place to get some coffee and sit and study for hours, or you can sit outside and if you're a student at UCSB you're sure to run into tons of people you know. more

Java Jones 8/9/2005

Java Jones is a great place to go to grab a cup of coffee, but be prepared to sit down and stay awhile, as that is something that usually happens in this place. You end up running into all kinds of interesting people here, and you can end up making a new friend or two before you even leave the ordering line. The coffee here is exceptional, and it's a great alternative to the usual corporate coffee places. The staff is friendly and competent, and occasionally they host live bands. A great place to study, especially group projects. more

Small but nice 7/29/2005

Java Jones is a small coffee shop located in Isla Vista, CA, the student ghetto next to UCSB. It has a variety of coffee stimulants and a few things to munch on. The shakes are particularly tasty. Sometimes they have live music, but normally it’s a good place to study or hand out with friends. more

Coffee house with scene 7/10/2005

Java Jones is the leading Starbucks alternative in the college town of Isla Vista. It has a very unique crowd, usually different types and styles of college students. They have a good variety of coffee and teas, with some house specials with appealing names. One of the best ways to stay up thru the night is Java Jones's Chai-gasm, which is Chai tea infused with espresso shot(s). If coffee is not your type of drink, try the Sense of Peace, which is a white tea offered by Java Jones. This place does have an underlying queer interest, seeing that it is the most popular independent coffee house in Isla Vista, and I'm sure some of the baristas are GLBT. more
