I was a student at the Jaribu System of Martial Arts for about 8 years and I was transformed from an unconfident clutz with two left feet to a stronger, highly aware individual. The Jaribu system is a combination of many fighting arts to create a style which involves fighting one to multiple attackers, defending against weapons and ground fighting. You are taught how to use weapons, how to increase your flexibility, and simply how to stay fit. \r

At the time I was a student, the senseis and students were predominately African-American, which somewhat reflects the community. As the years went on and word of mouth increased, the diversity became greater as well. That was something that made the experience even better- having people from different backgrounds as part of the dojo. I made a lot of friends when I was naturally shy and when we were not learning martial arts, we were learning life lessons. \r

This is my personal experience, but i believe that many students feel the same way.\r
