Great food, friendly people 7/27/2010

I found this place by GPS when looking for Mediterranean food. It's a very small place and a little hard to find. They feature down-home style Lebanese cooking by the grandma. Very authentic food. I recommend this place. more

Friendly and Fun, Great Food 2/26/2008

We went here at 2:00 pm on a Monday afternoon. The restarurant was dark inside but when we approached the door a young man asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We chose inside. The lights were turned on immediately for us and beautiful soothing music began playing. . It was pleasant enough. The food was fantastic. We ordered one order of salad fatoush which was enough for both of us. My companian ordered the makaneq sandwich, which he said was fantastic, with vegetables and a super garlicky hummus. Because I did not know at that time that Janna Cafe uses Halal meat I chose 2 vegetarian sandwiches: the falafel , which was fresh, homemade, and delicious and came with a side of torshi (turnip pickles), and the labneh sandwich , also delicious, served with a generous side of Arabic cucumbers. Pros: Great food, low prices, fast friendly service. more

An excellent adventure 11/16/2007

This is a rustic little place to try Lebanese food. I visited this out-of-the-way place because I was intrigued by the Hooka smoking. I spoke with one of the wait staff who explained that the restaurant did more business in catering than sit-down diners. I met the young man who's mother does the cooking. She is a housewife with eight children. When I returned with a friend for dinner we ordered the super kabob combo with skewers of chicken, beef, and two types of Lebanese sausages. There was a side of hummus with freshly baked pita - yum. There is an area in front of the restaurant that for $12 dollars you can purchase a bowl of scented herbs to ""smoke"" in the communal hooka - just like in Alice in Wonderland. The people are very friendly, the staff is very accommodating, and the food was delicious. For those of you who are interested - the meat is Halal - a sacred way of preparing the meat. I may not indulge in the smoking but the food is well worth the trip and extremely affordable. Pros: Food, Hooka experience more

Great food and great place to chill! 9/14/2006

This place is surprisingly chill and laidback. Beer is cheap and plently of outdoor seating for hookah and relaxing. Diverse crowd. If you want a place to chill and hang out, this is it! more
