I recently used Mr. James Butler as the electrician to do the wiring in an old house. The general comment is that although he is young but he is pretty good and experienced. Although he told me that he was a one man show when he came to interview for the job, he gave me a surprise right away by bringing a helper to do the job who did probably 80% of the work. His hourly rate is the lowest for all the electrician I interviewed and for a small job I would definitely recommend him. As for a big job, please make sure he gave you a detailed quote which was one thing I did not do. I believed in him about that he worked very fast and he could finish the job in less than 3 days. It finally cost me four times more than my expectation even though he doubled the work and I could not even fire him in the middle because he pulled a permit. Still I am happy now because it was finished. I wish that I negotiated a price with him upfront instead of letting him charge me by hour and materials which he never showed me the receipt. I definitely learned a lesson from this. However, he is definitely not the most expensive one even considering that because I got one quote more expensive than my final cost. Also at least all the light switches including those three-way and four-way switches all working properly. Although there were two ceiling fans which were working but later he told me he could not get them work so I had to buy new ceiling lights.
