I work in the historic Yamhill District and have a vast choice of coffee vendors. Why anyone working in that area would look any farther than James Bean Cafe is beyond me. It's cheaper, friendlier and (shockingly) less crowded than the Starbuck's across the street. Sean and Linda are incredibly gracious hosts (who also run the great lunchtime bento shop around the corner). You've got news-front tables if you're into the daily grist. You've got the peoplewatching (including the Bally to-ers and fro-ers), the secluded tables and the tables in mid-traffic. As connoisseurs of coffee and more teas than you can shake a stick at, what's not to love?
Pros: fabulous coffee and the nicest shopowners you'll ever meet.
Cons: if you're into an eclectic coffee experience, it's not your kind of party
