Great Tapas Style Dining 9/29/2005

If you enjoy Tapas Style dining, this is the place for you! I took my girlfriend here and we both loved it. The atmosphere was nice, although i will admit it was quite cramped inside the restaurant. Our waiter was very friendly, and the service was fast. They even asked us if we want to have our food come out slower or faster. The Sangria was pretty good, although I was a little disappointed with their Chorizo, but the great thing about tapas style dining, is that they're small portions and you can just order something else! more

Interesting food, price ratchets up quickly 9/21/2005

At $4 to $8 per tapa, you can see how your bill might increase quickly if each person gets 3 or so. However, the food is good and the tapas are a unique alternative to the typical American dining experience. When I went with a large group, they mixed up some of the tapas and we didn't really know who got what. I did enjoy the food and the service was prompt and it kept to the region of Spain that it was known for. Overall, a unique place worth visiting. more

great tapas 9/7/2005

Jaleo is a tapas bar that has great food. they are almost always full and they dont take reservations so it would be best to get there early. they have great food but it is very pricey. some people have never been to tapas bars so if you go in a group you have to explain that all they bring is large appetizers for everyone to split. more

Excellent for company lunches 8/26/2005

I've been to Jaleo on Woodmont for a few company lunches (20+ people). Its great because every can order a few tapas and pass it all around. However, make sure people know how tapas work! One coworker hadn't eaten much halfway through the meal- he told me he was waiting for the main course! I haven't been to this Jaleo for dinner, but I hear that it gets quite hopping on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It's usually about 50% capacity at lunch, but get there early for dinner. more

Tapas excelentes 8/17/2005

This is primarily a hip tapas restaurant/bar in the middle of downtown Bethesda. They have an extraordinary selection of hot, cold, and seasonal tapas. They also make fabulous gazpacho soup - try the white version- and a giant paella fit for a table, filled with seafood. Try also the limonada at the bar. One of the area's most popular restaurants, get there early, as it doesn't take reservations. more
