good stuff 7/5/2008

definitely will come here again. service was friendly, prices were reasonable, but most importantly the food was awesome. the bread was thin but enuf to hold the generous portions of meat. onions and cheese perfectly blended in with the meat. barely had to chew it. so good! the garlic fries were a bit disappointing tho. the fries themselves were good but the garlic part wasnt quite up to par. and having beer on tap is a plus! oh yeah... the meat might be a bit on the bland side. but salt is readily avail. more

This is the best cheesesteaks in town i ever had! I always order 8"" inch whiz with! I tried chicken Pizza the other day. It 's also very good! more

Great sports bar and best cheesesteaks in SF 2/21/2007

Jake's is a friendly neighborhood sports bar with 2 gigantic plasma and 6 beers on tab. My buddies and I were first drawn to Jake's for the 22oz beer for the price of 16oz (at other bars). We had a group of 10 people, so we called ahead to book one of the Plasma for our game. When we show up, we were greeted with friendly services, great sport bar atmosphere, and yummy cheesesteaks. Jake's staff even made complimentary green and orange (team color) jello shots for us. We keep going back as the beers, sports, cheesesteaks, and friendly services seems to fit really well. Cheesesteaks Rock!!! 12/16/2006

I just learned of Jake's about 6 months ago, and I was skeptical when I heard the cheesesteaks were as good as in Philly. Having lived in Philly and frequented the famous Philly spots (Pat's, Geno's, Jim's on South St), I can honestly say Jake's Steaks ranks right up there with the best! People from Philly will say the bread makes or breaks a cheesesteak, and somehow Jake's has that great Philly taste! more

Great great place, must check out ! 12/16/2006

I have a great time whenever I stop in Jake's. The atmosphere is cool and the food is awesome! My boyfriend is from Pennsylvania and he loves Jake's. He says it's tops in cheesesteaks and I think the mural of Boat House Row makes him feel at home. I'll go there with him anytime. If you want to try something new, go for the chicken cheesesteak salad ! I went for that once and it was perfect. Guys, if you're worried about making your health conscious girlfriend go to a cheesesteak place with you, tell her they've got a great chicken salad version of a cheesesteak for her ! Pros: Great food, fast, low price, cool atmosphere ! more

Best Cheese steak in the city 12/1/2006

I grew up in Philly and this place takes me back to my days as as a kid. Now that I'm old enough to sit at the bar I'm all over those FREEEEE jello shots during the games. You just can't beat that. Pros: The people there are cool, ask for Joe more

WOW! I'm from New Zealand and I'm back home now. So glad I found this place on laundry day. I have been raving about the best thing I tasted on my travels to everyone here back home. Top Cheesesteak, met Jake, top dude. Awesome experience and great value for money. more

Best steaks outside of Philly! 9/24/2006

As a die hard Philadelphian, I thought my days of eating real cheese steaks were over when I moved out to the West Coast. I stumbled upon Jakes randomly, but I have been going back ever since. In all honesty, its 99% as good as some of the best places in Philly, without the hassle of having to actually go there. If you dont believe me, try it yourself! I promise you that you wont be disappointed. Pros: Amazing taste Cons: Sometimes too crowded. You're lucky if you go there without a line... (still worth it) more

Great cheesesteak with unbeatable price!!!!! 9/23/2006

The food there is tasty and the price is very reasonable. I shared a 12 inch sandwich with a friend and was still enough for both of us. The setting is friendly and energetic!! You just have to try this place out! For all you Philly cheesesteak lovers, this is THE place to eat!! more

Will do the trick 8/20/2006

Jake's is aorund the corner from my place, I was really excited to find out it was going to open. Wings are good, cheesesteaks are good too but a little sloppy and the meat not chopped up enough for me. Best cheesesteaks if the city are from the The Cheesesteak Shop on divisadero and sutter. Even though Jake's is a block away, Cheesesteak Shop is just better and more authentic and that's where I go on Sundays for take out. Pros: good, affrodable, close Cons: mess up orders sometimes more

Best ""wiz with"" cheesesteak outside of Pat's in Philly! The buffalo chicken steak sandwich, loaded with hearty grilled chicken, bleu cheese and tasty buffalo sauce, is dynamite as well. Unreliable Delivery 10/14/2005

Though the food is great I would be cautious about ordering delivery from them. When I first ordered from them it took them an hour to get to me when they said a half an hour. Little did I know that I should have been happy, because the second time I ordered from them they did not even show up and when I called to check on my order know one picked up the phone. I would recommed the restaurant only if you go into the restaurant or pick up because it is a great guilty pleasure in the city. Only get delivery if it is early in the night and you have time to go for other options before it gets too late. more

Easily the best cheesesteak in the city. Have not been to Philly since I was little, but the cheesesteaks where I am from (Boston) completely dominated any place in San Francisco until I found this place. A BIG TASTE OF HOME 9/10/2005

Honestly the best Philly Cheese Steak that I have ever had - yes as good as or better than in Philly. Jake is great - you'll most likely end up staying for an extra beer while catching a game. A great place to meet friends, have a snack or even a whole meal. Plus, Jake serves beer! The service is great, and there is always good tunes or sports on the big-screen TVs.
