The shop has been in Great Falls for 50 years raising and adopting everything you could possibly imagine. The time the shop has been around should tell you everything about the experience of the staff. more

Always a stop whenever I'm in Great Falls. I love the feel of a true pet store and not the corporate money grabbing stores everyone knows. The employees and owners are some of the nicest people in Great Falls. Conditions for the animals? I can tell you that the pets at Jack’s are taken better care of, and played with more than the animals at those chain stores. The chain stores buy in volume and do not care if they arrive sick or dead to their store. They are put on the sales floor and forgotten about between feeding times. At Jack’s, the employee’s knowledge of the animals is far superior to any high turnover employee of a chain store. Jack’s dogs are bred locally at their ranch from their own pets. They know about their own pet dogs, the temperament of past litters, and their health and can prove they are pure bred. A cage of reptiles that is overcrowded is not a sign of inhumane treatment, but a testament of how healthy and hardy those reptiles are. Animals get dirty. Animals at Jack’s are cleaned every day. Kittens love to play. There are feathers for them to play with. I would be more concerned that the kitten was happy or ill-treated if the kitten didn’t want to play. Chain stores do not clean theirs every day. Animals smell. At jack’s they are not all packed in almost airtight cages like chain stores, The animals at Jack’s get lots of fresh clean air. Lots of air in the cages, means lots of smell out of the cages. I would be pleased to see puppies with loose stool. Why? Loose stool is a common side effect of many drugs and medications, particularly heart medications, some dewormers, and most antibiotics cause diarrhea. This would mean that they have just received their meds that those chain stores make you buy and dispense yourself. more
