Jackalope Lakeside

Have been there about two dozen times. Summers are crazy and you can wait up to an hour when busy. I have heard people say really stupid things to the owner twice. Once was in the outdoor eating area, a woman asked if he could make the little bugs go away. Anyone who lives near Lake Erie knows what Canadian Soldiers are and how stupid that question was. He was sarcastic in his comment but you could tell it was just in fun. The staff and the people in the bar have a ""Cheers-like) commradre, if you are looking for formal, this isn't it. The food is good and the atmosphere is casual. more

I've been going to Jackalope's just about every Fri for over a year and hate it when I can't make it. I have NEVER had a bad meal. All their ingredients are fresh with much of it being from the area. A great place to enjoy good food with friends. more

Amazing food and great atmosphere. Only restaurant with quality food located on our great lake. There must be a reason they have been open for ten plus years and that's because Jim Andrews knows what he is doing. more

The experiences we have had at the Jackalope have always been pleasant. Especially on the enclosed patio. Our most recent visit was May 19. We had marvelous food and a great waitress. I don't know who the manager is, but we had no problems what-so-ever. Yes, the bar gets quite rowdy. It's a place for boaters. We are not boaters, but it such a casual atmosphere, that we enjoy it. Every restaurant can have people that are annoying while you are dining. With the choices we have in Lorain, (SLIM PICKINS), the Jackalope is a nice dinner out once in awhile. Especially on a beautiful sunset evening. Pros: Best place Lorain has to offer Cons: Sometimes do not have enough people working to give great customer service instead of average. more

Just visited this location after being referred by a friend. Was extremely disappointed. Before even trying the food, the owner stopped by our table and was very rude with some of his comments towards my wife. I think his name is Jim Andrews. After that we ordered the Perch. Well I think they scooped it up floating by the dock because it was terrible. Will be the last time going there. Cons: Bad food, vulgar owner more

I just ate at this horrible place the food is terrible and overpriced. The owner Jim Andrews is rude and actually touches you. I would never recommend this place it is run down. The people that come to drink are loud and old. It is for an older crowd 50 +++++ Pros: sunset Cons: Jim Andrews terrible owner....bad food....place is a dump more
