I highly recommend this Jersey City ""old man bar"", where both the bartenders and the regulars are amiable and the atmosphere is relaxed. With vintage boxing photographs adorning the walls and a closed in backyard, one can take their drink out doors and just decompress as well as socialize. My husband and I make it an annual event to stop by on Saint Patrick's Day, Every year, set up on a table, is (delicious) corned beef and cabbage for the customers to enjoy (which just enhances the pub experience as well as the day's celebrations). Thoughtfulness like that is common place at Jack Miller's.
It is a mere four minute walk from the Journal Square Path Station. Walking south from Kennedy Blvd, (which turns into Bergen Ave.) make a right turn off of Bergen Avenue, on to Academy Street. That is where you will find the unassuming pub which stands diagonally across the street from the historical, Van Wagnen Farm Home (aka The Apple Tree House). Look for the painted facade that states their name, Jack Miller's Pub.
