I always listen to EVERYONE I know who raves that this place is so yummy and, since I love Ice cream, I try it again and again. Not only is it super expensive but its gross if you...

I love JP Licks but every since they discontinued Cake Batter, I haven't been going as much. Their new flavor brownie batter is okay but i miss the CAKE!!! bring it back asap! more

Best ice cream on Newbury St.! 4/16/2010

Definitely the best bet for ice cream lovers if you're on Newbury St. Ben & Jerry's is fine, but if you're looking for really good homemade ice cream with a wide selection of the tastiest flavors you could image, don't hesitate on coming here! My personal favorite is a combination of kowlua and coconut, but my friends always seem to favor the cake batter. For this month they have a bunch of Opening Day/Red Sox inspired flavors. The ""Green Monster Tea"" is definitely the one I sooo want and intend to try next - it's green tea flavored and loaded with natural antioxidants, yuuum. For those who like cake batter but are on a real sweet tooth kick, I suggest trying the ""Batter Up!"" - cake batter ice cream, loaded up with brownie bits. Location is great, as it's at the very end of Newbury St. (across from Uban Outfitters). You can get off at the Hynes Convention Center stop on the green line and pick some up, and then walk off the (well deserved) calories by shopping all the way down the rest of Newbury. Win-win, right?! :) Pros: homemade, large servings, good location Cons: kinda pricey, but certainly worth every penny/calorie :d more

Deck On J.P. Licks - Boston Restaurant Review 4/6/2010

So, after my slightly disappointing dinner last night, I decided to skip dessert at Clio, and head back out on Newbury Street. During my casual stroll, amongst all of the interesting looking shops, cafes and restaurants, I had seen a sign for J.P. Licks that said ""$1.00 scoop day"". Seemed like the perfect price to me, so I headed in... more

A perfect after-shopping treat 3/15/2010

Whoever decided to place a JP Licks on Newbury Street right near the Hynes T stop was a genius!! A perfect after-shopping treat (before shopping, no way - ice cream melts everywhere, and who wants to try on clothes after eating 2982935 calories?!). JP Licks' ice cream remains unsurpassed in quality and taste. A bit pricey for a few scoops, but hey, that's Boston prices for ya. Usually some pretty long lines, but don't worry, it moves pretty quickly. Pros: Delicious, big scoops Cons: Pricey more

gross on multiple tries 3/3/2010

I always listen to EVERYONE I know who raves that this place is so yummy and, since I love Ice cream, I try it again and again. Not only is it super expensive but its gross if you get anything but a scoop in a bowl. I got a frappe and literally threw it in the trash right next to the cash register. The place was so packed and it was so hot out I couldn't even try to get my 6 bux back! always gross. I have a theory people just like to go here because it has this stupid alternative vibe. So they rave about the vibe not the nasty ice cream! on a side note: I did email them to tell them of my exp after like 3 times going and they never replied which makes it a million times worse to me, for a *local* company and a *local* customer.I would do zero stars Cons: gross more

Remember wow doritos? same effect with fat free sugar free yogurt! 7/4/2008

Ok, too good to be true. I loved the taste but my friend and I felt way too full after a few bites. Plan on visiting the bathroom often in any of the restaurants nearby right after! Go for the real ice cream. I'm sure it's great more

A sweet treat on Newbury Street 7/3/2008

With classic as well as inventive flavors, this is the destination if you?re craving a cone or cup of ice cream on Newbury Street. The topping bar has just as much variety with an array of fruits, candies and other edible accessories. The store is small though, so it can be hard sometimes when it?s busy to find a place to sit. more

Awesome Ice Cream 6/29/2008

There is always a line, though it usually moves quickly. I have never been disappointed with neither the service nor the ice cream. I take all of my out-of-town visitors, and would definitely recommend this place to everyone! more

good ice cream 6/8/2008

J. P. Licks has good ice cream. The ice cream has great texture and the flavor is good, but not exceptional. The prices are a little high. more

Best ice cream you'll find in all of Massachusetts 2/12/2008

Excellent product (i.e. ice cream and even the coffee is great), quick and reliable service, wonderful staff, and a clean environment make this a great spot. I highly recommend it. It doesn't get any better than this. Pros: Great Product, Great Service Cons: can't seem to find any more

Yummy ice cream!!! 1/3/2007

Love their ice cream! Pros: yummy ice cream Cons: horrible customer service more

DELICIOUS ICE CREAM 11/26/2006

J.P. Licks has the greatest ice cream around. The ambience is fun & the service is friendly. If you're craving some ice cream, this is the place to be! Pros: great ice cream Cons: gets crowded more

Don't bother. It's not what it once was. 8/11/2005

Tonight we stopped in and got two cones. The cones were filled using a tiny scoop (about the size of a jumbo marble) which allowed the scooper to gradually build the cone to the precise weight for each size, 5 oz. for small, 8 oz. for medium and 11 oz for large. They actually weighed the cone on a scale before handing it to you. I was half done with my medium cone by the time we got to the end of the counter to pay for it. By the time we reached the end of the block I had reached a paper insert inside the cone (not the outside wrapper) which ended the experience for me. I will not be back. Someone in management has taken a good thing which did not need ""fixing"" and ""fixed"" it. more

J.P. Licks Rocks!! 7/17/2003

With 5 stores, what could be better! No matter where you are in the greater Boston area when you get a craving for ice cream, you can just shoot over to your nearest JP Licks and satisfy that craving! From Coffee Oreo ice cream to Oatmeal Cookie yogurt to their Sangria Sorbet...my taste buds are watering! So head on over to Newbury Street, Coolidge Corner, Jamaica Plain, Newton Centre, or West Roxbury for your favorite year-round treat!!!! Pros: Friendly staff, Quick service, Great for families more

JP licks rocks! 10/22/2002

Very tasty ice cream, lots of flavors, friendly staff. Good about letting try different flavors. more

Very Good Ice Cream 9/28/2002

I agree the J.P. licks has the best Ice cream. I haven't been to the one on Newbury St. But I have been to the one in Jamaica Plain. Pros: good parking, good location Cons: Expensive, sometimes crowded more

Becoming a Boston Staple 8/26/2002

J.P licks are popping up everywhere, and for a good reason. In my pre-lactose days, a daily trip for there amazing yogurt was essential. The every-changing flovors is a great perk, because you will always get something good. Now a days, my favorites have become lemon sorbet or the world best raspberry lime rickey. I must have if you have never tried it. Pros: Decor, Variety Cons: Croweded more

overpriced but worth the long rate 8/24/2002

By far the best ice cream/frozen yogurt in Boston. But the portions keep gettting smaller and stingier while the prices go up and up. The long line moves quickly though. Pros: homemade soft serve Cons: expensive, small portions more
