I first brought my car to Dale at Vic's Transmission in Lake Park because I have been experiencing ""bucking""/""stuttering"" for quite some time. He ruled out transmission problems and referred me to Ted at J T's Automotive, also in Lake Park. Ted spend a total of about 8 hours over 2 days time thoroughly examining and trying to diagnose my car issue. There were no clear codes for the problem. After further research he found that the problem might be coming from the EGR Valve. He told me the list price for that part and upon my research online I found it at about a quarter of the cost which was less than his dealer cost! He told me to go ahead and purchase the part online and he would show me how to install it since it was easy to replace. After all was said and done, Ted did not charge me for his time in trying to diagnose my car issue because even though it could be the EGR Valve, and my car was acting in a manner conducive to a bad valve, he wasn't 100% sure. I was blown away by his generosity and honesty. It really spoke volumes to his character. If I wasn't moving back to Atlanta, I would definitely use him as my mechanic.
