J R Moving & Storage

The owner of this company damaged my wife's vehicle and a neighbor seen him and his workers do it.they slammed a dresser and knocked it into my wife's car causing a lot of damage.the day after it happened a neighbor who saw my wife having words with tenant moving out came out and said she witnessed whole thing.I called him first he started to admit to it until i told him the price it was aprox going to cost then he decided to say no no no he didn't do it.mind you I told him someone saw him do it and later on that night and days to Come my wife and I called his cell phone and buisness phone leaving messages and texts that we wanted money for the damages that neighbor saw him do it if he didn't pay us were taking him to court.well took him to. Court we won the case and according to court paper my wife has to go after him to get the money.dont know why since the whole point of going to court was because he didn't want to pay for what he did.anyways my wife called him and even was nice to him and he with arrogance said he's appealing the case.nice guy huh?must be nice to go damaging someone's property then think you don't have to be accountable and responsile for paying for what you did.anyone who needs or doesn't need to move do not I say do not hire Jim Ryder or j r moving and storage company in staten island 10314 and please tell your friends and family not to as well. \r Otherwise you'll have to worry about him damaging your belongings or car and he will not take responsibility for it.mind you it wasnt even us who was moving it was a neighbor.\r \r more

I found them in a local paper and checked their license with the BBB. Had a good report, later found that a co-worker use them, they were satisfied. Nice team work, well spoken and very polite. Everything was handled with care.The man in charge of the team was very helpful with his ideas in the arrangement of our living room. JR Moving came recommended to me through a co-worker, and after shopping around, I decided to choose them for the move. They were quick and courteous and the job was done in no time. The owner was very friendly and made a stressful situation more relaxing and humorous. All of the workers did a great job and worked extremely hard. They even helped me unpack some of the heavier items and put back together my furniture. This guy is a rip-off artist! He quoted me a per hour rate; said they have boxes and will help pack the boxes, but never happened to mention that he charges extra for the boxes. I used 29 boxes, many of them packed only 1/2 full (at owner's directing) - and was charged an extra $325!!! not for the service of packing, which was included, but for the cardboard!!! His workers felt so bad. They said they usually pull the customer to the side and tell them about the hidden charge, but they thought that I knew already or they would have tipped me off. This man charged me $866 (for 5 hours), and wanted cash; when I gave him $900 in hundred dollar bills, he said he didn't have the change and asked if he could keep it! When I asked him to get change, he went down to the truck and sulked, and when I chased him down for it, he said ""What'm I s'pposed to do?"" (I got the change myself) The workers did a great job. They are paid $7 an hour, though they did ALL of the work. All the ""owner"" did was order them to use more boxes than were actually needed so that many of the boxes ended up 1/2 full. I didn't have any faith that the tip money would get to the workers, so I tipped them on the side. Oh, and this ""company owner"", after concluding business with me, must have taken my copy of the bill off my kitchen table, when I wasn't looking.
