The Best Service, Programs, and Facility in the Area 10/9/2008

A mourner must have been to Duffy's during a bad night. When I arrived there was a courtious older man at the door helping me to the chapel. He was so comforting and caring because I took a wrong turn to get to the funeral home, and he calmed me down. Like most funeral homes these days the funeral home puts out a list at the register stand so I could register my car for the next day. Among the large rooms, my friends mother looked perfect. In fact, at Duffy Funeral Home every service I have been to, the deceased always looks perfect. When I entered the chapel, there was a DVD provided by the funeral home of the deceased. What a nice touch. Upon my return in the morning, because I had registered, the director knew my name as I pulled up, and sure enough that same old man was there again. A great staff, with great service! I hope ""Amourner"" gets a chance to return to Duffy's to see what they are really about. Pros: Large, Clean Facility more

A very poor performance 5/17/2008

I'm very glad I have the opportunity to vent here.\r \r A close friend of mine passed recently. When I attended the wake, I did not see ONE representative of the funeral home present. No one opened a door for me, No one asked if I would be attending the funeral the following day. When I arrived the following morning, they asked if I had put my name down the previous night to participate in the funeral procession!!! I said no one was around, and the funeral home representative got a little snippy!!! And still no one opened the door for me to enter. \r \r On to the most sad part I can report. In order to make my departed friend look good, the home obviously had to use makeup. When they put my friends rings on him, they left residue of the makeup evident on his jewelery. Many people would not notice, but I did. It cheapened the final presentation.\r \r This was the third funeral I attended in less than 6 months. At the other two funeral homes, they were FALLING all over me to be helpful. At one funeral home the gent who opened the door for me at the wake remembered me the following morning at the funeral. That was classy. Not the case at Duffy's.\r \r I hope that someone from Duffy's reads this and addresses their lack lustre performance issue. Pros: Large clean facility with plenty of parking Cons: Staff was not professional, lacked pride in their work. more
