My family has been planning to go to JC Wine Cellars for several years to see what the hype is all about. That's all JC Wine Cellars is - hype. I was disappointed with the entire experience. As soon as we got there and began to place our orders, all my mother wanted was a bowl of clam chowder, a salad and desert. But the waitress literally told us that she would have to buy a full $17.00+ meal (FOR LUNCH) or we would have to leave. This was on Mother's Day but there were several tables open the entire time we were there so it's not like they were too busy... Try paying the tacked on 18% gratuity tax after that kind of service. So my mother and I ordered the roasted duckling. I felt that the duckling was mediocre for the extravagant prices. A duck l'orange should include a lot of orange syrup, not just two little drops on the side. It also tasted quite bland and dry. Very disappointing. My father ordered a NY Strip Steak and it seemed to him that the steak was merely fried in pan with a bit of A1 sauce. The wine we ordered wasn't JC Winecellar's "specialty wine", but a generic brand that you could buy for half price at a grocery store. If you take a look around, you notice that the restaurant has paneling on the ceiling and walls, concrete floors, and dusty Christmas-esque decor scattered about. (So much for the atmosphere..) JC Wine Cellars is extremely over-priced for an experience that one could easily recreate at home. If you like paying lots of money for mediocre food, this is the place for you. If not, then this is an experience that you will WANT to forget!!!!
