Used to be good but now a disaster 4/21/2010

This place used to be good a few years back. The service that I knew a few years ago has gone downhill significantly. I had an issue with some service and asked to speak with a manager. Besides taking forever to speak with me, the manager was downright rude and unapologetic for her employees' behavior. Apparently she has been fully indoctrinated by the new corporate creed which seems to be ""service at no costs."" Avoid this place - there are plenty of better choice in nearby Deerfield and in other parts of Northbrook. Cons: Rude Service, Lack of Manager Integrity more

Excellent food and service 7/11/2007

There is a variety on their menu from burgers, pasta, fish to steaks. The food is excellent and always prepared to your specifications. J's trains all their staff and it shows. The wait staff are friendly and very knowledgeable regarding their menu as well as their wines and cocktails. I love the fact that although a waiter/waitress is assigned to a particular group of tables, all the wait staff work together as a team ensuring the food is delivered promptly from the kitchen to the tables and that their guests have everything they need. So many good restaurants - why waste your time. 4/11/2005

Food is average although J Alexander's thinks it is outstanding. This is overpriced for what it is. They do not take reservations and you can wait for an hour on Fridays. Once you get your table you expect the food to be worth your wait, but are let down. Don't waste your time on this one. Cons: Seating, Food more
